Re: World's hardest question

Hey LA8, I am sorry to hear of your recurrence. I just wanted to say hi and let you know that I am thinking of you and praying for you. We have been on this board for the same amount of time and you are one of the first "friends" we made. I don't know what to tell you as far was what to do...

Re: rectal ca

My husband was diagnosed with rectal cancer in Nov of 2006 at 43. His cancerous polyp was located at about 10 cm from the anal verge. They were able to perform a low anterior resection (LAR) and reconnect the end of the colon and he did not need a temporary colostomy. His surgeon told us from the on...

Hi Ron, Like Brady, I always have mixed emotions when there is a new member signed on. We hate to see another person facing this challenge, but are glad you found this place. My husband's story is very similar to yours. He was diagnosed at 43 with stage III rectal cancer. No family history. He compl...

We have very good friends in Metairre. Our favorite oyster bar is Felix's and our favorite restuarant is Irene's. We were the...

Sally, I am so glad to hear that you have been cancer free for 10 years! That's great encouragement for everyone out there. My husband was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer at age 43 in Nov 2006. He had a low anterior resection (LAR) with coloanal anastamosis rather than a full removal of the r...

Both Xeloda and Avastin are FDA approved for colorectal cancer, but yes as someone else said, the Insurance company will have rules about which stages they will cover the drug. With this said, I have a real problem that they won't approve the xeloda for you. It is FDA approved for both stage II and ...

As a nurse, I would certainly advise against it. Chemo can affect your white blood cells, by making them low, and this makes you more susceptible to infection. Also, chemo can affect your plateletes, which are the blood cells that cause your blood to clot. When they performa a mani and or pedi, you ...

A Round of applause for Hannah

The first annual Cut the Cheese event held here in Little Rock last night was a huge success! My husband participated in the Survivor wall and we attended with our son and his girlfriend. I knew it was going to be good - but this was GREAT. It was very well attended, the food was wonderful, and the ...

Joanna, my husband's story sounds very much like yours. He was diagnosed at 44 with stage III. However, there has been no colon cancer in his family (that we know of). His father died of prostate cancer at 65 - which is relatively young for that particular cancer. His grandfather had pancreatic canc...

....and a VERY Merry Christmas to you as well!

I hope you have a great holiday. This time last year, my husband had only been out of the hospital about a week from having his colon resection. It has been quite a year!

It was good to hear from you. Take care and God Bless.
