Cpt Mac, your story is written wonderfully and I love your positive attitude. Always have. You are my inspiration for Tyler's case as he is Stage IV too. Congrats and happy birthday, belated! Keep up the great work!
Lisa, Tyler had radiation on a lymph node in Jan. '11. The node sat behind his stomach and because it was close to the duodenum he vomited every day for 21 days during radiation. I only tell you this to make you aware since the sternum can be close to the duodenum. It is something to consider. But, ...
Thanks everyone for the well wishes! We still have to pinch ourselves that the scan was as clean as it was. Terms like beaten and crushed it are being bandied about our house now. We know that a recurrence isn't entirely out of the realm, but most of the environmental influences have been taken out ...
On Monday, June 18th, Tyler had his “well baby check” as his nurse likes to say. She said, “did you have a scan today?” We said, “no, not since March last year.” She was surprised it had been that long. We told her about the chest pains Tyler had been having, about 3 times since his last appt., 3 mo...
Talk about perception...I always read your name as C P T Mac! I never realized you were a captain! (Color me chagrinned!!!!) Thank you for your service! And I for one, love your attitude. You do always seem to see the positive in things which I think is great. It makes life just a little sweeter. (I...
I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope you/she can find the help she needs to get through this. It can be tough. Our kids never really said a whole lot about things when Tyler was going through the rough parts. They knew things were not right, but we all just worked within the frame at the t...
Mitchell, you can throw Tyler's situation into the mix. He was 41 when diagnosed and similarly, even when doubled over with pain and unusual stools he did not want to go to the dr. I am not saying do this, but I had to put my foot down and take the reins and take him to the ER. She is clearly having...
Gaelen, thank you for your updates. It means alot to me that you share these details with us. Wishes for pain free days filled with family and friends!
I just wanted to say that Tyler is 2 mos from his 3 yr dx mark. As you can see in his signature, he was dx'd July '09 and surg Aug '09. He has had some rough points, but is now LIVING with his dx. He has been clean since Mar '11 without any other scans since. He is taking the kids camping next weeke...
Tyler had this symptom while he was on chemo and the doc sent him to the neurologist. Turned out he had a disc pinching his neck. They fixed it and immediately his pain went away. Never were sure if the chemo caused it or an injury. You might want to have it checked out.
Annalexandria, the dr doesn't seem to think that surgery is an option. I said at the last appt that if something came up, couldn't we cut it out? Livers can be resected, lungs, etc. I am not advocating surgery for my husband, but the do whatever is needed to keep him here attitude. I was overridden ...
I used to read these alot, but noticed that he had not posted as many and got the impression that something was going on. At the time, my mind immediately went to "gees, I hope someone is not sick" and then it turned out it was cancer for the poor guy's fiance. My husband pointed this out ...
Jimswife, I know you've probably heard this many times before, but try not to worry. It won't grant you any more time. We try to just live day by day and watch for any new symptoms that cause him problems. It's all we can do if we don't want to live under the cancer umbrella. Minolfa, the cea has ne...
Jimswife, everyone is different and we never know. Tyler had his intial surgery and 30 days later he was lit up like a Christmas tree in his abdomen on the pre-chemo PET scan. We were musing just this morning if those were there before surgery because he had only had a CT scan that showed his initia...
