Re: Stage IV for 4.5 years.....NED again!!

So so happy for you!!

I didn't realize you're adding bevacizumab to XCEL. That prevents it from being a total oral regimen. Is your onc's idea? It is interesting to know that he's OK with the combination of bevacizumab with celecoxib.

Many good wishes, Steve!

Re: Stage 4 rectal cancer with single lung met

My husband has been diagnosed 3 weeks ago with stage 4 rectal tumour and a single lung met. So far we have had MRI and CT scan and he had the PET CT yesterday so is awaiting the results. My question is my husbands rectal tumour is large 11cm by 5cm, and the lung met is 4cm. I can not seem to find a...

Re: very discouraged with this cancer business

I will only add that my Oncologist explained non approved drugs such as keytruda can be obtained through the BCCA outside of a trial. Your oncologist essentially presents a case to the provincial board with evidence of clinical benefit. The board reviews and if they agree forward the recommendation...

LMighty, I'm so sorry. The top priority is to keep your mom comfortable, so draining the fluids is very important. Wish I could offer other insight. Her doc seems very engaged in her care, so I'm hopeful he'll find a way to balance the pursuing of treatment with quality of life. I'm sending you my v...

Re: very discouraged with this cancer business

Hi, AT, bat signal received : ) I already told Beth time ago that she likely would benefit from immunotherapy, and that in Canada the way to obtain it is on a clinical trial, at the moment: http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58318&p=459238#p459197 Later, CRguy pointe...

Re: Maintenance Chemo or No ?

Instead of nothing, I would do capecitabine (LOW dose, metronomic dose) + celecoxib (XCEL or ADAPT) as Sophy is doing viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57644&p=454418 Total oral regimen, ideally, it should be imperceptible. Just because you asked for opinions : )

Re: Stage IV Rectal Cancer being treated with Keytruda

The reason why they didn’t start with that approach was because their initial goal was to attempt a cure through complete resection of all tumors in combination with FOLFOX. That makes totally sense now for me, veckon. Chemotherapy is fast-acting, when it acts, so it's a better suited agent to achi...

Sorry to hear that ascites are still a problem, but it does sound like some improvement is seen. Fever ---and the thyroid disorder-- sound like side effects from the immunotherapy. The NCCN has published some recent lines for side effects managment and has a tool for patients https://www.nccn.org/im...

Re: Stage IV Rectal Cancer being treated with Keytruda

Congratulations, veckon, this is so great to read/ hear!! More and more, we're listening to similar stories from those MSI-high treated with anti PD-1/PD-L1. You can read BeansMamma posts in this forum, and I read many others testimonials in other groups. It is a bit strange to me that, being at the...

Maia Is this for only Kras Wild type ? My wife is Kras Mutant. . It is thought to work at least for some MSS, independently of KRAS status, BUT in the original small study the results were seen mainly in KRAS MUTANT patients: Clinical activity and safety of cobimetinib (cobi) and atezolizumab in co...
