Re: ANY Pros/Cons Vitamin D3 ?

My wife has taken vitamin D at 10,000 - ca 60,000 iu per day over the last 7 years, mostly 25,000-40,000 iu. No problems when balanced on magnesium, vitamin K2 and less calcium. The potential problems mentioned for preventive management were mainly calcium toxicity, and deficiencies of magnesium or...

Re: ANY Pros/Cons Vitamin D3 ?

One of the important news at ASCO 2017, this past June , were the final results of the trial SUNSHINE. In short: results from a phase 2 clinical trial known as SUNSHINE indicate that a high dose of vitamin D supplementation significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) by about 2 months com...

Re: BeansMama - I'm still kicking (butt that is)

Insurance is being a pain about paying for my Keytruda so the battle is on with them. My oncologist is quite peeved as we have proof it was approved then all of a sudden they went back and changed their mind and denied every treatment I have had (at 31,000.00 a pop) just had my 11th treatment this ...

Re: Proton Therapy for Liver Metastasis from Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Roscoe, I of course wish you wouldn't be going through all this but... what a great 'team' you have formed with Dr Yang. I love that you found this out of the box strategy. Keep going!! I'd dare to suggest you might want to explore immunotherapy, in trials or off label, if you can --might be the 'so...

Re: I need a little hope

Sorry to hear the MD Anderson visit went like that. I would consult any of the clinical trials centers in TX that are not the MD Anderson, for them to check if some immunotherapy-based trial is available for your case. Re: Path report back

Good, the best news :) You might benefit by looking into chemopreventive benefit of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In plain English: aspirin, low dose, might help you to prevent recurrence of those polips. You might want to ask your doctor about it. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28325827

Re: Omentum mets? Youth seeking input please

Is an omentum metastasis a peritoneal metastasis? Yes, the omentum is part of the peritoneum. It is a fatty tissue between the stomach and the colon --that's probably why the doctor talked to you first about 'stomach cancer cells', as you said in your other thread; but the tumor is inside the perit...

The best news, veckon. I felt the emotion myself when I read this so I only can imagine yours.
I so love reading this, thank you for sharing. Immunotherapy really is changing... life already, for those MSI-high, something that was not 'here' at all two, maybe one, years ago.

Re: BREAKING: Nivolumab (Opdivo) APPROVED for MSI-High CRC

the difference between this drug and keytruda? Looks like both are pd-1 inhibitors. I wonder if you stop responding to one, another might work depending on what exactly differentiates this drug. Keytruda (pembrolizumab) and Opdivo (nivolumab) are both anti PD-1. They are too similar. Even drugs tha...

Congrats, Maellous!!
Keep chewing gum; chewing gum is to get your guts moving faster again. Just try to not chew with your mouth open, so you don't get extra air in the system.
Not kidding, just search this forum.
Smooth recovery wishes to you!

LMighty, I'm glad to hear that the ascites are slowing down again and that she's taking a break for a week. Immunotherapy works slowly, often, and acts long after administered --months, sometimes. So if this is going to work, she's probably covered. BUT she needs to recover and just regain some stre...
