Re: Peritoneal mets. New, local treatment: PIPAC (Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy)

As it says in the main post, Mayo will be the first place, probably. The idea was they were starting this year, at least with a trial.

Re: Keytruda? What else is new?

Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and nivolumab (Opdivo) are a type of immunotherapy, both approved some months ago, as monotherapy, for those with CRC whose MS status is MSI-high (about a 10% of the CRC are MSI high). For the majority of the CRC patients, who are MSS, those agents and similar are being test...

Re: Peri mets, Stage IV --- Need advice

AJQ, so sorry to hear these news. Do you know anything about the mutations/ genetic characteristics of the tumour? Are you in California? You have there many main cancer centers, they surely can help you to get genetic profile and maybe looking for an immunotherapy trial.

Re: Looking for HIPEC Experiences

SisterinLaw, I do understand the good intentions of his oncologist --some patients pursue HIPEC hoping it will be a cure, for certain cancers... and for most stage IV cancers, when they are not resectable, there is no current cure (only recently, with immunotherapies, doctors start to talk about 'lo...

Re: Looking for HIPEC Experiences

I'm sorry to hear about your brother in law. Can he travel for treatment, is he looking to have treatment in Chicago, only?
Do you know more about the genetic / mutations of the cancer? Immunotherapy, probably a trial, might offer other possibilities of treatment.

Re: T3N0M0 Rectal Cancer- refuse surgery?

Now my concern is for the possibility of permanent Neuropathy from the Oxaliplatin component of Folfox. You can ask to receive Folfiri instead of Folfox --it is your right, both are interchangeable regimens in terms of efficacy, different side effects profile. With Folfiri, you might have diarrhea,...

Re: Stella (vilca11) went home (more than a month ago)

Godspeed, dear Stella. She was a friend, we emailed very often a couple of years ago, we emailed less lately, I lost contact with her some months ago --she knew time was near. I like to think that she is traveling somewhere now, free of pain and suffering, in a place that is even more beautiful than...
