Re: Liver Cyst After Chemo - Question

I had a similar situation with a cyst that appeared on my liver. It looked benign on the PET/CT scan, but they did an ultrasound to be sure, and that confirmed that it was benign. I admit that I still wasn't completely reassured after the ultrasound, but it is now about 8 years later and all is well.

Re: Help!! Newly diagnosed stage 3a signet ring cell carcinoma

Hi, It is so frustrating looking online for information on SRC carcinoma. I agree, all the information is depressing and not helpful! It is true that the treatment is the same as for non-SRC colon cancer, except that closer monitoring is a good idea. My insurance was willing to pay for quarterly PET...

Re: Signet Ring Cell Cancer of the Sigmoid Colon

Hi, I'm so glad you are continuing to do well! I also had signet ring cell colon cancer in the sigmoid colon. I had 14 out of 18 positive nodes (stage 3c) and a few other factors working against me. I had my surgery in May 2008 and I have not had a recurrence. I know how terrifying it is to go from ...

Re: Prep question

Thanks everybody! That gives me some ideas. Hi, Lee! I remember you from when I was first on here years ago. You were always super helpful and I really appreciate it. Ron, I hope that pathology report comes back okay! Thanks for your input. It's awesome that you are 20 years out from your diagnosis,...

Prep question

Hi! I am so seldom on here anymore. I was on quite a bit until a few years ago, mostly under another, similar name, but I irretrievably lost my old login credentials...too much info? I will get to the point. For my next colonoscopy, still a few months out, I am going to be expected to drink 3 (THREE...

Re: Signet Ring Cell Cancer of the Sigmoid Colon

Hi! I only have a moment because I have a meeting to attend (I'm at work). I was diagnosed with stage 3c signet ring cell colon cancer (also sigmoid) in May 2008. I had surgery and six months of Folfox and I've never had a recurrence. I have to go now, but I will try to post more later. Best wishes ...

Re: Colon Cancer, Obesity and Bariatric Surgery

Hi, I had gastric sleeve surgery in 2012, about five years after my colon cancer diagnosis. The good: - I healed well and did not have any complications. - I lost 60 pounds. - I thought, from my reading, that the increased cancer risk was only with the gastric bypass surgery, but I don't have any id...

Re: CEA

It was 4.0 when I was diagnosed, so not very high. Having said that, I've calmed down considerably, and I just have a little nagging worry at the back of my mind now. Not a big deal--having a little worry at the back of my mind is nothing new! I will, of course, be very interested in my next result ...

Re: Survey on bad habits

I smoked a pack a day for eleven years, and I quit twenty two years ago. I seldom eat meat now and I've never been a big meat eater. My biggest current risks are that I am somewhat sedentary (but I've been working on taking the dogs on longer walks), and I am very overweight (70 pounds or so). My on...

CEA

I feel so foolish. I've been NED for eight years and my CEA went from 1.0 to 2.0, which is normal and no big deal, right? I know this, and yet I can't let it go. I keep worrying despite the fact that I know it is normal. So, here's my question: have you experienced a fluctuation like this? Am I righ...

Re: Genetic Counseling Appointment

I just got back from seeing my oncologist and she recommended genetic testing for me. Good luck to you. It's a little bit stressful! I've been NED for a long time (eight years) and I've gotten used to not worrying so much (almost like before cancer). Now I'm back on Google and freaking myself out. I...

Re: Anyone have weight loss surgery after cancer??

Good luck with the puppy, Dianne, and congratulations! I recommend working with a trainer early, as these dogs take some special handling (we have a BC mix that I love dearly, but he has his issues). I had weight loss surgery almost five years after my cancer treatment. I have to say that, unfortuna...

Re: Anyone else with signet cell or muincous cancer?

I was diagnosed with stage 3C SRC colon cancer in 2008 and was very fortunate to never have a recurrence. I had fourteen lymph nodes with cancer in them, so my situation was not good. My oncologist said that the treatment for SRC is the same as for any other colon cancer. Having said that, I did pus...

Re: Post-chemo weight gain

I also gained about 50 pounds post-chemo. I wish I had some good advice. I strive to eat less sugar and to exercise more, with mixed success. All I can do is keep trying. I've always been prone to stress eating and I was overweight before cancer. The stress of the cancer diagnosis and treatment and ...
