Re: abdominal & back pain

I have some abdominal and back pain that they can't really pinpoint the source of. The current working theory is that one or several of the enlarged lymph nodes are "nicking" a nerve bundle here and there and causing the pain. Currently I have my pain very well controlled with a combo pack...

Re: turmeric

OK. Folks I approved a lot of these posts with HUGE reservations. There are ways to carry on conversations on topics that are civil and respectful and we should all strive to maintain that tone. If the tone continues to deteriorate on this thread, then the moderators will start editing. There are, i...

Re: Is Chemo Worth It?

Frankly, I think this whole discussion is a bit premature -- not that it's not a good idea to have a framework within which you can view your doc's recommendations. If you have major neuropathy issues, then I think it would be unlikely that your doc would put you back on Oxi. So you will probably be...

Re: Heart Palpitations from Chemo?

Many times it's a reaction to the anti-emetics that they give you. Decadron is a very likely culprit, or any of the drugs in that family like Emend. Also, Atropine can cause issues. So keep track of EVERYTHING that goes into her system, and the time, and then any reactions you notice, with times. Sh...

Re: Help, please!

I don't have a cure beyond general home remedies. Sometimes they give atropine for it which is one of the ingredients in Lomotil.
But I want to encourage you to make sure your onc is aware, or your surgeon, because hiccups are also a sign of something amiss in the liver.

Re: Anyone have just a splash of blood occasionally?

Happens to me all the time and I tell my onc every time. If it's a lot of blood he'll do a CBC. If it's just trace blood, he ignores it. I have nasty, nasty, nasty hemmorhoids and have had them since college. Three pregnancies didn't help either. So that's the source unless the stool turns tarry bla...

I just wanted to say that while I am not too excited about the stuff you are holding up for discussion, I appreciate that you have included sites both praising and condemning it.

Re: Status Update

Do a little reading before you agree to single-agent Avastin. My onc is pretty adamant that it is not anywhere near as helpful without a chemo agent to piggyback on. So I did 5-FU and Avastin for my maintenance chemo -- dropping the Irinotecan. He had several studies to cite, but I don't think I mad...

Re: Abcesses, drains, ED

I was just gonna say that there's been enough vaginal talk about radiation effects to give this board a serious NC-17. Don't know why ED should be any different? But I do recommend the franktalk.org site. It's got the same format as this forum, and the couple of times I've surfed it just out of idle...

Re: A vent about people better off...

It's funny, but it bothers me more when people assume that I'm completely incapable of taking on anything else, or don't want to tell me their troubles because "of course this is nothing compared to what you're going through!" As someone who has always been the "go to" person for...

Re: Abcesses, drains, ED

I'm doing great! I am off of school until Jan 11 with only one chemo treatment and a LONG departmental plenary faculty meeting between now and then (I think chemo and faculty meetings definitely fall into similar categories of misery!) Just got/rescued a dog, and am looking forward to doing some ser...

Re: Abcesses, drains, ED

I have a friend who has started a support forum for ED. It's primarily for prostate cancer, but ED is ED, I'd imagine.

www.franktalk.org

Check it out.

Re: Folfiri and stomach cramps?

It can be. My cramping is usually associated with diarrhea, but sometimes I just get the cramps. Atropine is a big help. I take Lomotil which is basically Immodium and Atropine. I also get IV Atropine as part of the pre-meds with the chemo.
