Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

The gas is probably the most uncomfortable thing. I honestly think the colonoscopy and aragon gas treatment...

Re: New here - rectal cancer, very nervous about radiation

The radiation shrunk my tumor almost completely, there was just scar tissue when they went in for surgery. My staging was considered high 2 by one, but another said 3. As I mentioned Miaderm and prescription Biafine were great. There is a study from Wash U Barnes Cancer Hospital published last Octob...

Re: New here - rectal cancer, very nervous about radiation

I am sorry you find yourself here. The whole thing is a shock and menopause on top of it is just not cool. As you can see from my signature, I am older but with same staging as you. I wasn't told by my doctor that my periods would stop but by the radiation tech when I came in on my period, he said,&...

Re: Surviving radiation for rectal cancer

Yes thanks Adele. I have to drink plenty of water, keep things moving. I have been taking one gabapentin daily for safety. I enjoyed fresh asparagus and strawberries today without any problems so far. Pretty much normal life except thinking, worrying about bathrooms.

Re: CBD and/or Cannabis oil

I found CBD gummies helped with chemo side effects, cramps and nausea. I used CBD cream for hand and foot pain. I wouldn't risk my health on it as a cure but worked better than any prescription nausea meds.

Re: Mop up chemo experiences

Experiencing some pain as food moves past the site of the anastomosis. Trying to remember to chew, chew, chew. Is this a problem anyone else has experienced? I can literally feel the food move down through lower colon to rectum, gives me a since of when I have to plan a trip to toilet. I have contro...

Re: Clustering advice

This was explained to be a the body's response the treatment. It is a trauma and no one talks about it, ie not the doctors. The razor blade pain was explained to be a fissure. I stuck to a low residual diet, added both a bidet seat and now post reversal a squatty potty stool. The PA said elevating y...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

One of my friends who had a reversal said she felt the single worst problem for her was stress. She noticed that it made everything worse and then things keep building on it. I definitely notice pain inside where staples are I assume but the bidet helps with the clean up and actually seems to stimul...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

No, a pediatric occupational therapist I see kids full time during the school year, part time in summer. Birth to 21, so it can be physical, unpredictable work. After chemo I had a lot of pain, struggled to get on and off floor, struggled with squatting but found that turmeric tablets helped. I know...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

At my appointment yesterday, telemedicine, a squatty stool and psyllium . Start small. I am just so grateful to sleep all night but that’s also when stuff sneaks out. She suggested changing what I eat and when as well. Sticking to low residual diet and adding a few things every day. I planned this f...
