Re: RIP beautiful Cherie :(

I'm so sorry to hear this! Prayers for her family. I see that as far back as last Sept, she was preparing to go and how to tell her daughter. I hope that they had good times till the end and many good memories to keep her in their hearts till they meet again. I was just thinking it had been a long s...

Re: Colostomy Leaking Since Surgery - 8 Days

GGRRR! I am not a litigious person, but this surgeon is p*s*ing me off so much I would sue the pants off him and put him out of surgery forever. Your restraint in deals with him is admirable, I would not be so nice. Will continue to pray this situation gets better and the reversal comes quickly.

Re: Colostomy Leaking Since Surgery - 8 Days

I am just appalled at this situation! Don't know when I've been angrier at the medical community. At the very least they could have kept her skin from getting so sore by cleaning well, drying it and using a liberal coating of a cream like for diaper rash (nursing homes have tubes of this they use al...

Re: Bann MD Anderson or Mayo clinic in Scottsdale

I have no experience with either, but a young friend of ours had a brain tumor removed in the Scottsdale Mayo and she is doing well some 10 years since. She has nothing but good things to say about them.. I would feel comfortable using them, especially since you have family there. That would decide ...

Re: Ordering My Seeds--UPDATED With Pics

Love your pictures and envy your gardening success. At first, I thought you must not have a deer problem(I have an 8' fence around mine), but then noticed what looks like electric fencing over the low fence. The drought here has put a damper on my garden..I have asparagus, 4 tomato plants and arugul...

Re: MD Anderson

I was really pissed at MD Anderson. They wouldn't take my Tricare insurance. As a result I got a perm ostomy.

Has no one noticed that Cherie has not posted since Sept last year? I have a bad feeling that she found the answer to her query sometime last fall.

Re: Husband had LAR on Monday, ileostomy bag continues to leak please help

Two things come to mind. The oily skin is definitely a cause of leaking. You need to be using a nonfatty soap on it, like Ivory. Clean and dry with a hair dryer set on med temp. At one point, I even cleaned mine with Joy dishwashing detergent(much to the dismay of the ostomy nurse). And rinse well. ...

Re: Incurable mets in lower pelvis - what to ask onc?

My Dad was in a similar situation. When he was opened for colon surgery, they found spread to the liver. He did opt for chemo-5-FU and Leucovorin was what was used at that time. He had initial surgery in May of 1992 and died in Dec. of 1993. So a little more than 18 months of life after Dx. The chem...

Re: OT :travelling with colostomy, holiday in California!!

You mentioned being in San Francisco in July or August. I spent one of the coldest summers of my life in that city years ago. In fact, for going to hospital to deliver on July 24, I wore a coat. And the Grand Canyon will likely be really hot, so be prepared for that as well. Yellowstone, we ran into...

Re: Tips for colonoscopy?

They said to do the prep tonight (8 ounces every 15 minutes, until 64 are down the hatch) and then only clear liquids until after the scope on Wednesday. Nothing with red or purple in it. They didn't say anything about pills....just the Miralax. I'm sure it will be delightful. Man, you are going to...

Re: Tips for colonoscopy?

The sedation that I got was very light, in fact I woke during the last one and you come out of it pretty fast. You shouldn't feel loopy, but obviously they don't want you driving or exerting for the rest of the day.

Re: Tips for colonoscopy?

The cleanout is going to make you very sore around the rectum. Early on, coat the area with some sort of cream: bag balm, calmoseptin, balmex or vasoline . Pat- don't wipe and near the end, you can just use a spray bottle of warm water. I have used the fleet product before it was banned and the last...
