Re: Funny giggles. No Kleenex required!

Wonderful picture!! Love your dog. I have a border collie red healer cross pup that we got in March. He has been my rock this summer dealing with all of this. Dogs are amazing companions. Love my puppy kisses at night. Mine was supposed to be an outside cattle dog, but he has become my spoiled rotte...

Re: Plant-based diet as prevention?

Genetics play a huge role I think. My dad has lost all but one of 8 siblings to cancer. My one aunt who died of cancer lost 3 of her daughters to it. All have been different types. My dad grew up on a farm, poor family so they lived off the land eating nothing full of preservatives. His one survivin...

Re: anticipatory nausea

Thank you Olivia, I understand now. Something to watch for with my father I guess. There is something new to learn about this damn disease every day! Makes me have even more admiration for all of you who have been battling for so long. Thanks for clearing things up for this newbie.

Re: anticipatory nausea

I will have to get a list of my dads meds. He is on folfiri and has been fine. He takes one of one pill and 2 of another right before he leaves for chemo. He then takes the same at bedtime. Then he takes one pill at breakfast and supper on day 2 and day 3 then he also has another pill that he takes ...

Re: Dad update

The appt went very well. He wants to book my dad in with the liver specialist now so that he is on board and also will likely add a new drug to his chemo but my mom can't recall the name

Re: Dh not coping well

Didn't your husband say he was doing great on his chemo? I know I was following his posts as my dad was at about the same spot. I would think if he is doing ok so far you would be best to go in together and have that week of rest for both of you at home, provided your chemo is similar as far a timin...

Re: Another baby?

I think you actually need to make a list of why you want another baby! I have four children and wouldn't change a thing! I did not have a husband with cancer but my husband was away a lot so I was a single mom for a lot of the younger years. Because of this we chose not to have our kids play hockey ...

Re: Dad update

My only concern is that my parents won't be able to understand the new doctor. He is the head of oncology at our clinic but is African. My daughter works at the hospital and said he is an amazing doctor, knows his stuff but talks fast and has a very strong accent that the nurses sometimes have troub...

Re: On chemo, too tired to vacuum?

My rosie has no problem on the throw rugs that I actually spent some money on, but the cheap ones that have corners curling up challenge her sometimes. Mine comes "invisible wall" type things. THere are two of them and you can set them anywhere to stop her from going past. My son set it al...

Re: Toilet fatigue

This has been a struggle for my dad as well. He learned the hard way at a steak and lobster supper the other night! Needless to say he had to go home earlier then planned. He is talking about getting some depends or something to help. We also are trying to talk him into wearing elastic waist pants w...

Dad update

My dad has had two treatments of folfiri so far and is doing amazing! I went with him to his oncologist appt yesterday and he actually talked surgery. My dad has had a few very normal bowel movements so the doctor feels the chemo is working on the colon tumor and being dad has tolerated the chemo so...
