Re: advice needed - I'm in the hospital with ovarian cyst

Hi Stu Actually much more likely to be benign in this situation. A cyst is NOT a tumor, it's a fluid filled structure and is very obvious on radiology studies. Multiple physicians have reassured me that TYPICALLY colon cancer does not grow fast. For sure cysts grow that fast. How old are you? Are yo...

Re: Divine Healing

Agree this is a controversial topic. Why does God give 25 year old women or 45 year old men with a 9 year old cancer in the first place? If He loves us why does it happen? I can't answer that question. Just doesn't make sense. But what I do know is that God has given men and women amazing intelligen...

Losing life insurance when going on disability?

Greetings, My DH is finally ready to go on disability. He has ongoing side effects from the chemo/surgery etc - neuropathy, diarrhea and fatigue primarily. He is a sales director with a national role and his job is 100% travel. He managed to work through it until now, but he can not do it any more, ...

Re: Strange things people say

My motherinlaw told my husband "I can't deal with your cancer. You'll be fine so I am just going to go with that." Meanwhile I work full time, he has had over 30 rounds of chemo, 5 surgeries, radiation. Would be nice for her to drop off a meal now and then.

Clinical Trials at MSK - advice?

Happy Labor Day! Looking for some thoughts....My DH has been through FOLFOX + Avastin, liver/colon resection, lung resection, FOLFIRI+ Avastin, and then a summer of maintenance with 5FU and Leukovorin and Avastin. He has 4 more lung mets that started to grow. One he just got SBRT this week, 3 more t...

Re: 5FU hair loss

Typically your hair thins, but doesn't fall out completely. Find a good hairdresser who knows what he/she is doing with this situation. I got my husband to go to my stylist whose mom when through chemo. She was able to hide the thinning.

Re: Ablation of lung mets

Its in a spot that no one can get to easily. The IR guy said for sure he would get a pneumothorax and everyone agreed for this lesion SBRT is the right option - even the surgeon who was concerned he would have to take the whole lobe (which would be a bad thing since he had his other upper lobe remov...

Ablation of lung mets

Hi, My DH has 5 lung mets. One is close to the mediastinum, and has just grown since his last scan in May to 1.2 cm and is going to get SBRT. He has 4 more all about 2-4mm in the periphery of his lungs - 2 on each side. What is the smallest size met they can ablate? Would be nice to get the rest of ...

Re: DH possibly not letting himself realize how seriously ill he is .. Help?

Your post hit home for me. It is the undercurrent for everything that goes on in my house. My DH is doing really well. We think he might have a small lung met but it's really unclear. He continues on maintenance chemo. He plays golf the day after chemo and a week later plays in a tournament. We go o...

I would recommend avoiding any toothpaste with Sodium Laurel Sulfate in it. Try Tom's (you can get at Whole Foods or similar store).

Re: Devastated Wife

It is devistating to me every time I hear someone passed away. And it makes all of us caregivers wonder how we would handle it. I hope I have as much grace and love as everyone on this board has. I get so darn angry some days thinking of what CC has robbed us of. But on the other hand, my husband ha...

Re: Need help understanding MRI report

My husband had a similar report to yours at diagnosis. Tumor 8mm at colorectal junction (did not have nodes though), 8 liver tumors, 5 lung mets. We took it one step at a time. FOLFOX + Avastin got us to a 4mm tumor and 4 liver mets. Then colon and liver resection. Then he had lung surgery on the le...
