Re: Oxaliplatin

So far I have been responding to the Oxaliplaten infused over 2 hours with minimal side effects. I believe if it ain't broke don't "fix" and will request to continue with my original chemo regimen. They have done a pilot study that appears to indicate change is safe, but I think ability to...

Oxaliplatin

MSKCC is changing the infusion protocol from 2 hours to 68 minutes for Oxaliplatin. They say it shouldn't cause any problems. Any comments or thoughts about this?

Re: Bev -- are you Ok?

Hi Bev

Would using a walker enable you to walk greater distances? Don't worry about being embarrassed to use one,if it keeps you safe and prevents falls. You don't need to add a broken hip to your list of medical problems.

Stay well

Jaynee
Hope you are in a little less pain today and heal quickly. Try to stay off your feet as much as possible and keep the foot elevated.
Wishing you well,

Re: Low WBC count

At MSKCC, they recommend taking a Claritin antihistamine the day before, the day of and the day after a Neulasta shot prevents side effects from occurring. So far, after 4 Neulasta treatments it works -no side effects felt.

Re: October scan buddies.

CAT scan showed about 20% shrinkage of the liver met and pancreas tumor. No new mets. The FOLFIRINOX appears to be doing it's job, though of course I would have preferred a greater percentage shrinkage, I am pleased with the results. I will continue on same regimen for the forseeable future. Leslie ...

I have been using the Miralax prep. Its half the volume of go litely and it is tasteless. I mix it with a clear pneaple drink and alittle mango tea and it is palatable thru the entire prep. Before the Miralax 2 Ducolax tablets are taken. In addition, the day prior to prep i fllow a low residue diet ...

Re: October scan buddies.

Having CAT of abd/pelvis/chest on Tuesday October 14th. First scan after 5 rounds of Folfirinox, which I have tolerated remarkably and unexpectedly well. Since my CA19-9 and CEA were within normal limits prior to treatment, and I had no symptoms, the CAT will tell us if the cancer is responding to t...

Re: not lynch so now what?

Research on the genetic mutations that greatly increase a person's chance of developing colon or other related cancers is still in its early stages. Not all mutations have been identified yet. With a family history that you described, it would be prudent to follow the surveillance protocol recommend...

Re: Unbelievable article - it ticked me off

What about someone with undetected Lynch syndrome. With Lynch a polyp can develop very quickly into a colon cancer within within the space of one year. Waiting three years may result in an advanced colon cancer, when just removing the polyp ay the time of discovery could nip the potential problem in...

Re: Lynch syndrome

Lynch colon cancer is slow to metastacize and studies have shown that through Stage III, surgery alone is usually curative and the risks from chemo outweigh any potential benefits. However, these studies were done when the only treatment was 5FU. I don't believe there are research studies that inclu...
