Re: Daily Enema Therapy for LARS

Don’t know if this will work for you but it’s probably worth a try. I work a standard M-F, 8-5 schedule. In the early days after reversal when things were wonky, I’d drink 10-12 ounces of prune juice about 6 p.m. and by 8:30 or so my system was completely flushed out and the next day there would be ...

Good to see you’re still doing well all things considered.

Congrats. I just got the two year all clear today. Scanxiety was kicking my butt.

Re: Whole rectum removed

My tumor was 7 cm from the AV and I lost 90% of my rectum. I did not have radiation. I’m closing in on two years NED (learned today that I am still Ned after ct and butt probing) and my bowel function is great. It’s probably 90% of what it once was but much better than when I was diagnosed.

Re: Describing LAR surgery

I’m not the norm but I lost 90% of my rectum in LAR/TME and I’m basically the same as before cancer some 18 months later. Lucky, with “tight sphincter elasticity” (dr. word) and no radiation.

Re: Just can't let it go

Shoooot, I researched my adenocarcinoma like a maniac. At my one year colonoscopy. They removed a couple of polyps but otherwise said I was good to go. I didn’t follow up or ask any questions and haven’t given it a second thought.

Re: No chemoradiation before surgery

I skipped radiation when it was standard of care for rectal cancer. All went well, so far. My unprofessional, biased advise is to avoid radiation if possible. It can mess you up permanently.

Re: Adenocarcinoma PT3,PN2

If it’s t3n2m0, they cure the hell out of it in most cases. Gone; never to return. But if you have mets (m1 or above) it’s a much harder fight.

Re: To share my “ghost” story

Funny... until I recently had a problem to ask a question, I have been the same way. I have an appt with my colorectal surgeon to take a look at my bum since I have had some pains recently. Though the more I think about it, those pains have been there since a long time ago, just were frequent latel...

To share my “ghost” story

I want to share a brief chapter of my cancer journey as it involves this website and I suspect others will experience the same thing. I found this place shortly after my stage 3 diagnosis early last year and it gave me a ton of support and information. I kind of re-discovered (even though I was here...

You’re going to be all good. Been there recently. Odds are greatly in favor of, “NED, see you later.”

Love to hear it! I’m in the sweet spot for recurrence and just starting to mosey up to looking at that five year goal. Looking forward to making the same post in 3.5 years (fingers crossed).
