Re: 7 Year cancerversary

Congrats Kiwi on another year of freedom! It's great to see others that appear to have beaten the terrible prognosis. Hoping you have many more cancerversaries to celebrate!

Re: 8 year cancerversary

Thanks for refreshing my memory of my first post all those years ago. I have since stopped taking all of the supplements except for the baby aspirin. I've had two follow up colonoscopies since I was NED and no polyps have been found. I sometimes wonder if my poor diet and more alcohol consumption (...

Re: 8 year cancerversary

You are an inspiration and your very first post is one everyone here needs to read through: https://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=40315&p=288270#p288270 I came here grasping for any hope I could find, and researched the supplements you told us you were taking way back...

8 year cancerversary

Hi everyone, just posting on the 8 year anniversary of my stage IV cancer diagnosis. It is incredibly humbling to realize how fortunate and blessed I've been, especially since seeing so many other colon clubbers succumb to the disease. I truly have much to be thankful for this week. Quick update on ...

Re: Infusion with Oxaliplatin makes itching and redness

Yes, it is common to develop an allergic reaction to oxaliplatin. The same thing happened to me at my 7th or 8th cycle, except they didn't send me to the ER. They put me on benadryl and monitored me closely until it cleared up. I switched to FOLFIRI for the remaining cycles.

Re: Liver mets and resection - looking for others' experiences!

I had 6 liver tumors, and the largest was 2.5 cm IIRC. Fortunately I was resectable at time of diagnosis, but still went through neo adjuvant chemo and short course radiation before surgery. My left half of liver was removed and 2 wedge resections were done on the right side. Around 60% of the live...

Re: Insurance question: Are colonoscopies considered preventative?

Thanks for the responses. From my net searches it appears that there are two categories of colonoscopy: screening/preventive and diagnostic/medical. I asked my insurance company and am waiting for their response, but I believe we are subject to the diagnostic/medial category.

Insurance question: Are colonoscopies considered preventative?

It's open enrollment at my company this week for my health insurance coverage next year. My boss's boss said that colonoscopies are considered preventative and should be completely covered by our insurance plan with $0 out of pocket (apparently his have been). My question is whether this applies to ...

Re: Treatment at Mayo Clinic MN

I was treated there in 2011-12 with surgery and radiation, and they consulted with my local oncologist for my chemo regimen. I had an extremely positive experience there and highly recommend them. My results speak for themselves.

Re: Those of you in Japan - PSK Mushrooms

Ehut , Did you take the PSK and Modified Citrus Pectin throughout chemo? We had chemo orientation today and were told to reduce antioxidant intake while on chemo. The explanation was that antioxidants strengthen the cell walls, and that’s the opposite purpose of chemo. So antioxidants would benefit...

Re: How crucial is the HAI pump?

Sadly, I believe many oncologists just go through the motions when the tumors are inoperable and don't pursue aggressive treatment like I think they should in some cases. Fortunately I was operable and didn't need the pump, but if I were in your situation, I would DEFINITELY pursue one.

Re: Reversals Any positives?

Hi Ehut - thanks for sharing ! How do you mean your system works better than before surgery ? Do you mean life has returned to normal for you without any LARS ? How about the toilet runs and all ? By "better", I mean that I am more regular and my bathroom breaks are usually very fast. The...

Re: Reversals Any positives?

The first week was pretty rough for me. It felt like I was passing razor blades until I discovered Metamucil (psyllium husk fiber) which kind of acted like training wheels for my system. Total game changer for me. It took several months for things to fully stabilize but things have been good ever si...
