Re: Post cancer fatigue

I was on Xeloda for 6 months and I have been done for over 2 years. I used to be able to go, go,go....now I go and stop! I find that I have more energy in the morning, but by the afternoon, it is done. It is very frustrating to say the least. My mind says one thing, but my body says another.

Re: New Here and Going Under the Knife 9/4

Hi all, this is very sudden for me. I know very little since this is all happening so fast. In July, I was scheduled to get my hernia surgery and a week prior I went in for preadmit testing and my blood work can back 6.4 hemoglobin. Well, they put that surgery on hold and sent me to the hematologis...

Re: Staging and treatment options.

I was on Xeloda for 6 months and it was doable. It did not interfere with my lifestyle. I worked, went out and had my martinis on the week off. I was a little more tired, but people did not even know I was on chemo...plus I did not need a port!

Re: Newbie trying to get up to speed...

Surgery was deemed a success. "We got everything we planned" was the 1st comment from the surgeon. Stayed in hospital for 2.5 days. Some soreness but no major pain. Did not need painkiller. When the occasional coughing (from tube irritation?) caused soreness on incision sites, used cough ...

Re: Staging and treatment options.

Hello all, its been a while since I posted. I had an extended right hemicolectomy on 7/19 to remove a 5cm mass from my TC. It was originally supposed to be done by robot, but they had to convert because of its locations. They took 2/3 of my colon. The surgery lasted approx 2 hours and everything we...

Re: Sluggish bowel

I had a right hemicolectomy and once in a blue moon I do get diarrhea, but most times I go one time a day...that is normal. If it is not hard to pass, your bowels are back to normal. I eat fruits and salads to keep me from getting constipated.

Re: Here we go. Xeloda dosage question

I was on Xeloda for 6 months, 3000 mg per day. 500 mg (3 pills) in the morning and 500mg (3 pills in the evening). I would wake up around 6:00am and eat a piece of toast with a banana and take my pills around 15 minutes later. I would than eat something around 9-10 because I was hungry. Dinner was b...

Re: New here - rectal cancer, very nervous about radiation (update: tell me about xeloda!)

So they're recommending 6 months of xeloda. I'm told it confers about a 2% reduction in recurrence rate in people with cancer like mine. The only side effect that really makes me nervous is the hand foot thing, one thing I read said to avoid tub baths (I was really hoping be able to use my hot tub ...
