Re: Reversal Log: Experience,Problems, Q & A's

This was a very good thread to read. My husband had a reversal for his colostomy on March 29 however, since the dr was worried about leaking (even though the test passed during surgery) he decided to give him a temp illeostomy. Boy has that been a change. Butt we saw his nurse who helped pouch is os...

Re: It’s today (with update) Take down scheduled

He was pretty out of it when we finally got to see him. It was also pretty late. 7 hour surgery plus being there early and then recovery. He did ask about his surgery. When I told him about the new bag he asked so it can’t be fixed. So he was atleast glad when I told him this is just 8 weeks enough ...

Re: It’s today (with update) Take down scheduled

Not what we expected. There was so much scar tissue and his rectum was stuck to his pelvis. When the dr was done with that he sent a “staple” up there to make sure it was ok. It didn’t come out the other side. So they had to open him up more. They did hook him up and the leak test passed. BUT he now...

Re: It’s today (with update) Take down scheduled

Thank you. I’ll let him know when I finally get to see him. He’s still back there it’s been 6 hours now. I know they started with the robot but said they had to open him up a bit more.

Re: It’s today (with update) Take down scheduled

He’s been back there for almost 3 hours. They found a lot of adhesions. So the take down hasn’t even started yet (as of 50 min ago). They say he’s doing great. I’m just being a worry wart.

It’s today (with update) Take down scheduled

My husbands take down is scheduled for next Friday March 29. A little nervous. But I hope it will all go good. He is a bit more nervous but ready to start the next chapter. He then has his scan on June 10. Then he gets to heal and have a hip replacement in July sometime.

Re: Incomplete colonoscopy - worried about surgery

My husband was the same. We went to the ER for a bowel blockage. Couldn’t do a full colonoscopy because of the cancer. He ended up with a colostomy because there was an infection in there. His surgeon wanted to wait until after chemo to have a full colonoscopy. He will have one on Monday. Then we fi...

Update on hubby

He finished his chemo on Monday November 26. He didn’t have any delays. Although his last chemo day his glucose was high. So we contacted his dr and they ran an A1C and his number was 9.2. So has to adjust his diet and exercise. They are hoping it only spiked because of the steroids. He will go in M...

Re: Colon cancer: my treatment and side effects

My husband has an ostomy and his dr told him to take a stool softener 2 times a day. They were still way to hard. He took more and then things got way to soft. When I went to sams club to get more I talked to the pharmacist because of the limit on the bottle. He told me he was fine taking up to 6 a ...

Re: Low WBC after 2 treatments of FOLFIRINOX

My husbands WBC was 3.9 Monday before infusion while it has been around 4.2. I know not bad, I asked him if he had been eating the mandarin oranges still. He said we were out. I was like you have to tell me when we get low. His platelets had also been going down. I made him start eating eggs for bre...

So Frustrated....

So with everything my husband has been going through I have decided to get all my scans and stuff done that hasn't been done in a long time. Colon Cancer runs in my family. My mom's dad had it at 50 and they have found polyps in my mom. So I get the recommendation from the doctor to get a colonoscop...

Re: Stage 3 rectal cancer....

My husband has stage 3. He was close to stage 4. The only reason he was not is because he didn’t have cancer anywhere else. He went into the ER with a bowel blockage. His was all emergency surgery and had no choice. He has a colostomy because of it. He should have a reversal after chemo is complete....

He’s already been cleared to take Tylenol for pain. He already can’t take ibuprofen due to meds he’s taking. I appreciate everyone’s information.

Re: O/T....anyone had hip bursitis and had cortisone shot?

I asked him if he wanted his shot. He said yes he hasn’t had time to call. So I called and he has his appt this Friday at 8am. I’m glad they could make his appt so fast.
