Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

Started Xeloda today. Lots of anxiety yesterday, but glad to be getting this done. I received my Oncogene DX text results back today. Test reported 12% recurrence risk with no chemo, but 7%-5% recurrence risk with 5fu/ Xeloda for 6 months. By adding Oxaliplatin it only improves risk by 1%. Any othe...

Re: cecal mass

My husband had colonoscopy yesterday. Results say R/O cecal mass. Doctor took a biopsy. Have an appointment in 2 weeks. Doctor says mass is soft. Husband feels a little uncomfortable where biopsy was taken. Can anyone tell me about this? What does it mean? What can I expect? The right-side colon in...

Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I decided on doing chemo after oncologist explained a cancer cell can get out and travel leaving no trace until it decides to grow. I know the few studies on stage 2 show little to no difference with chemo, but I want to do everything I can. My oncologist said xeloda kills cancer cells so I am hopi...

Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I am a stage 2A just starting my journey. Sigmoid Lap colectomy six weeks ago. Have been living in the gray area of adjunct therapy. Visited three oncologist and all had a different take on what to do. It was clear none of them really know how to proceed with stage 2. Very disheartening how little ...

Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I am posting this to see updates on Stage II Colon Cancer members. Stage II is very controversial when it comes to treatments...some of us had adjunct chemo and some did not. We have no lymph node involvement, but still at risk for recurrence. I see so many updates from stage III and IV, but none fo...

Re: New member seeking support

Welcome to the club, but sorry that you had to find us. I too had a circumferential tumor in the ascending colon, cecum to be exact. It was found during a colonoscopy screening for my 57th birthday...Happy Birthday to me . I had no symptoms. Right sided colon cancer does not have symptoms unt...

Re: Today's CT Scan/1 Year from Resection

Hi All, Just had my CT scan and was given the "all clear" for one year. Boy, what a trying year it's been. My husband and I are cautiously celebrating. Had my resection a year ago. Stage 3C. Kinda gut-punched by the whole thing. Then, 3 months into chemo, had another scan which showed som...

They should be able to answer all of your questions when you call. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Re: MD Anderson costs estimate?

My moms oncologist wants her to get a second opinion at MD Anderson. We are from Las Vegas, she only has Medicaid so obviously it won’t cover her expenses. Does anyone have some kind of estimate of the costs. Also are there any kind of financial assistance programs or payment plans? Do they need mo...

Re: colon mass detected during pelvic exam...?

So I went to my gyno for some pelvic pain and some other hormonal issues, and during the pelvic exam she detected a golf ball sized "mass" in my colon..it definitely hurt when she pressed on it..the next step is to do a laxative cleanse and to come back and, I suppose, do another pelvic e...

Re: Why no statistics on stage two and Xeloda

As of right now i think i am not high risk. What is LVI ? I am waiting on test to determine MSI or MSS statis. I am leaning towards taking it just for a chance of reduction. I felt doctors not really interested in stage two, just want you to wait until it comes back. My mind seems to never clear of...

Re: Why no statistics on stage two and Xeloda

Good Evening all, I have been given the opition of Xeloda or observation for 2A T3 N0M0 colon cancer. After reading lots of articles I cannot find any information on if it reduces recurrence. Why is there not data on percentage of reduction in recurrance in stage 2. I have a platelet issue and need...

Re: Anaphylactic reaction on round two of FOLFOX

Hello... Here I am! Anaphylactic reaction to the Oxi(130mg) on the first cycle of Xelox or Capeox (Oxi with pill form of 5/FU). I made it through the entire infusion and right before I was ready to leave..it hit! They tried to desensitize and administered an Epi Pen. I spent 3 hours in the e...
