Re: CEA is a yo-yo

All the CEA results I see in your signature fall within what is considered the normal range. I would not be concerned with it until it starts climbing above 5 or more. It doesn't appear to be a good marker for your cancer. These measurements are causing you undue stress for no good reason. Have a fr...

Re: Please help! In search of answers

Did they remove the tumor in the peritoneum? I appreciate this info as this is super helpful to help diagnose what is going on and hopefully be able to catch it before anything progresses. My concern is that chemo will not infiltrate the peritoneum/mesentary enough to pinpoint and target this 0.9cm...

Re: Please help! In search of answers

My wife developed Hydronephrosis in last year prior to her passing. This was due to a tumor that was hard to visualize on CT scan growing in the peritoneum pressing on her Ureter. She had to have stents put in to keep it open. About every 4 weeks they needed to be switched out. This surfaced as back...

Re: Swinging Chicken

This caught me off guard. Haven't heard this in a long time. Nice picture BTW. I registered my latest pup Winterset Bev in honor of Bev. I have named other dogs after Marco, and Olivia people we have lost but have had a connection with in the past on this forum. Glad to have seen this today. GrouseMan

Re: Nervous CEA rise

Yes - My wife had a peri met that was not very well visualized by CT scans. I don't think they really got a good handle on it until it was large enough to cause a blockage of her colon by pressure from the outside. It was also pressing on her ureter requiring a stint. This was what did my wife in. L...

Re: Nervous CEA rise

Yes very definitely it could be something else. It appears that his CEA has always been in the normal range even when initially diagnosed at 4.9. For some this is not a good marker for CRC. Since he is having back pain, there is inflammation involved. And any inflamation can cause a rise in CEA. The...

Re: KRAS Q61H

As catstaff indicates its rather one of the rare KRAS mutations found in CRC (~0.98% of all CRC), but is more predominate in Lung and Pancreatic cancers. There is apparently a Clinical Trial NCT03953235 which targets this mutation, and inclusion criteria is CRC and this mutation. See: https://www.my...

Re: KRAS Mutation G12V

You particular KRAS mutation is not one of the common ones that have a known resistance to KRAS pathway inhibitors. KRAS mutations are usually activating ones that result in turning pathways on that promote the release of growth factors that promote tumor growth. Sometime EGFr Inhibitors can be used...

Re: I'm getting worried

I have been taking 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily for some time now. A friend of mine was in an auto accident and banged up pretty bad. Long after she recovered, she had lingering pain. Her doctor put her on high dose Vitamin d and that helped a lot. So I decided to try it to see if it would help som...

Re: Adjuvant Chemo Delayed

The large aortic aneurysm is much more deadly in the short term to your husband at this point than the cancer and must be dealt with first. Undergoing Chemo with a that would be dangerous, and the surgery to correct the aneurysm must heal before chemo. Lucky that they saw that! People drop dead from...

Re: Wnt pathway

In addition to this, members Maia and Grouseman, separately, posted a dozen or more messages referencing this topic also in the 2014 timeframe. I'll have to go back and review what Maia and I said on this topic 6+ years ago. Wnt is not an easy drug target from what I remember. A couple of other mem...

Re: Avastin and Avascular necrosis

Yes - My wife was on it for almost 4 years. But She was not diagnosed with this side effect. She had some pretty bad lower back pain going on for about 6 months towards the end of her life. MRI etc didn't really sort out that back pain. Pretty inconclusive as to where it was coming from. I believe i...

OK - Its been a while since I posted something in this topic. Generally - I like to showcase some research that is probably directly applicable to the readers of this forum. I certainly don't have as good access to the journals and things that DK37 had or I for that matter 15 years ago. But I still ...

Re: How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

Imaging is not a very good means of differentiating one thing from another and it really takes specialists with a good eye to even see the very subtle changes in between scans. One would like to have the same radiologist compare the scans and hopefully not be the first or last of the day that they d...
