Re: New member, poop shape question

Welcome to the forum and yes a trip to the doctor is warranted. It's better to get it checked so you will know for sure. Also because of your family history.

Re: colon and partial rectum resection

I had a flexible sigmoidoscopy yesterday and they stretched the anastomosis site because it was really narrow. I'm hoping that helps my symptoms. They also removed a polyp.

Re: Polyp found near anastomosis site

Thanks Michelle. I'll try not to worry. So far symptoms haven't improved but it hasn't been that long. I'll try metamucil for a few days but if it makes me feel worse I may try lax-a-day(like miralax) again.

Polyp found near anastomosis site

Yes, when I had my sigmoidoscopy done a small round polyp(looked like a raised bump) was on the wall of my colon not far from the anastomosis site. My surgeon didn't seem concerned because it's small. He said something about how it could be due to the anastomosis. My questions are should I be concer...

Re: Sigmoidoscopy was horrible!

It was but the stretching was the worst. Lots of cramping and intense pressure. I hope it worked too. Still in pain today. Cramping and sore.

Re: Sigmoidoscopy was horrible!

I was told it would take a month to get back the pathology results. :( I'm reluctantly trying the metamucil again because my surgeon believes it will work best for me. If I have too many problems with it I will try lax-a-day again.(Same as miralax) The polyp had no stalk, it was like a round bump pr...

Re: colon and partial rectum resection

I had half of my rectum and half of my sigmoid removed during my colon resection on November 20th, 2014. I'm still experiencing pain, lots of bloating and sometimes a sense of urgency. I usually have several small bowel movements a day when I do go.

Re: Sigmoidoscopy was horrible!

I'm sorry to hear of your husband's recurrence momof3! My surgeon did remove a little air. I asked my surgeon if he would have to do the stretching more than once and he said no. I hope doesn't have to do the stretching again.
