Re: All Lung Nodule Experiences

I am really confused on what to do. My doctor won't change the order to lung only and my GP thinks I don't need so many scans since I had stage 1 and my node had been stable for a year. I need a new oncologist to follow me. My 2mm node was on my lung when I was diagnosed so they found it on my firs...

Re: All Lung Nodule Experiences

Once it was found on my one year ct scan, I had a repeat at 3 months of the chest. No change, then had another chest scan 6 months later. Susie , what kind of scans were your lung scans? In my case they used low dose without contrast IV drugs scans for lungs. What is a difference beween these two t...

Re: Stage 1 colon Cancer, CEA levels, CT scans

I do wish there was a scan for us without radiation exposure. "Low dose" CT scan also exists with radiation exposure several times lower. For example in October I had such scan of my lungs without contrast (they did only lower body "normal dose" scan in June). I am curious to be...

Re: Stage 1 colon Cancer, CEA levels, CT scans

I was told by my surgeon that for some people CEA level is not an indication of cancer. Your pre-surgery CEA level was normal (according to your post). So for you CEA test may be irrelevant. By the way, if you plan to stick to this forum for longer time, it makes sense to create a signature describi...

Re: Colonoscopy without sedation, should I?

I was told that extra pain (without sedation) leads to higher intensity peristaltic, that can complicate insertion of a scope and can increase a risk of perforation. This is a main reason why American doctors dislike no-sedation option. I do not believe that this risk is high, because in many countr...

Re: Colon resection now abcessed

Have you had an internal or external hematoma?
Internal hematoma can liquefy and get infected. :(
Theoretically speaking such fever can be also caused by leak, however It seems to me that this is unlikely 3 weeks after a surgery.

Good luck and best wishes!

They have a nice theory. However we need more work to prove it.

Anyway, you need to remember that "correlation doesn't mean causation".

Re: Possibly unnecessary open liver surgery

Given the diet he's gradually returning to (yesterday it was chocolate chip muffins, ice cream, fried chicken), I won't be surprised if he has future mets. There is no scientific data linking after-surgery diet and a risk of metastasis. However, considering diminished liver capacity, it probably st...

On top of that, I have immense guilt for these feelings. Don't feel guilty about your own feeling. Your emotions are natural. They would subside in time. North American obligation to feel happy all the time is a contrived one. Mark Manson book "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck" may hel...

Re: All Lung Nodule Experiences

I have a few small new nodules on the last CT scan.
According to their interpretation they are of inflammation nature.
They recommended a follow up scan in 4 month.

Is this typical in a similar case to get referred to a pulmonologist?
I have not received such referral so far.
