Re: Folfiri and Nausea

Hello, I had 12 treatments of FOLFIRI and after the first one I wondered how I would ever get through 12. The nausea was terrible and it also gave me an odd sensation in my upper abdomen. My oncologist advised me that FOLFIRI it very hard on the digestive system and neutrophils. Unfortunately, no na...

Re: Clear CT results!

Hi Amy, I’m an old timer and don’t post much anymore but I do pop in here from time to time. Great news about your scan and I hope your slightly raised CEA is nothing to worry about. The times I worried about my raised CEA only to have it go back down with the next test :o Are you getting it checked...

Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

For me this never gets easier. CEA check on Monday. I’ve put it off, now it’s been 4 months instead of 3. I had a terrible bout of bronchitis for a whole month and am worried that will increase the number. I’ve also had major family health issues coming in hot from every direction. I have been so s...

Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

You are not alone...CEA testing is my nemesis! It has never been stable since post surgery. I tried everything...from diet, exercise and yoga. The last rise, my cea went from 2.5 to 3.1. Even though my onc was not concerned, I was. I went on a plant based diet over the summer and found out that I h...

Re: 7 1/2 years post Stage IV liver resection

Oh wow Diane, I can’t believe it’s been that long....time certainly does fly. I’m so glad you’re doing well. It really is a roller coaster ride and sometimes we just don’t know where the next bump or turn will be. But then we also go up and never go back down that scary drop. I have just been to my ...

Re: Talk me down..CT results...

This is slightly different but my son had a lump in his neck as a child. I could see it before he even noticed it. It felt like it was at least 1cm in size. The doctor wasn’t concerned and said it was an enlarged lymph node possibly due to him having a cold/flu. However, he didn’t have a cold or flu...

Re: O/T : I wish Brownbagger were here

I “knew” Eric from here and he truly inspired me with his bike riding and his garden. He was very wise and reassuring much like you CRguy. I am very grateful for the wonderful people I have met here...when I was terrified, needing encouragement and just someone who understood. I found it all here. W...

Re: 2 spots on liver, 7 months after chemo success

My initial scan showed a spot on my liver and an MRI confirmed it was a cyst. Your doctor will get your results before your appointment so I’m hoping he will call you especially if it’s good news. My doctor phoned me as soon as he got the results which was either the same day or the next day. Perhap...

Re: It was 15 years ago today

Thank you for sharing your story. I love reading it every year. Please don’t stop.

I remember you being on here when I first joined about 10 years ago. I remember your little pic :D

I’m sure you gave me hope and comfort when I was first diagnosed and frightened.

Best wishes always ❤️

Re: Staging and treatment options.

I was diagnosed with CC 10 years ago and had 3 lymph nodes affected. I did chemo - then it was 12 cycles over 6 months! My onc advised to do chemo to give me the best possible chance of survival. He said it was to kill off any rogue cells that might be floating around. Was I cured from surgery alone...

Re: Please help - Diagnosed yesterday and confused

Hello, I just wanted to reply as I understand your fear and to let you know a bit of my story. I was diagnosed ten years ago with colon cancer. Wow, it's gone fast. I had blood in my stools and was referred for a colonoscopy. Gastroenterologist knew straight away it was cancer when she saw the tumor...

Re: 80 year old mother

With stage III colon cancer there is a good chance that all the cancer was removed with surgery. Chemo is just "mop up" to kill off any stray cancer cells that "might" have got through via the lymph system. I had chemo because I was in my 40's and just wanted to have better insur...
