Re: Struggling with terminal diagnosis

I was told last week that I am incurable - I could live two years, I could live 10 years - depending on my response to treatment. Somehow I now feel like my life is not my own (was it ever)? I am a Christian but am not in a good place right now. I cry a lot - I read this board continually. It is a g...

Re: Just diagnosed and hopeless

Cry all you want honey, no one here is going to say a thing. No matter what our story turns out to be - the initial shock, sadness, anger, grief - whatever emotion you want to name - is normal. Please take someone with you to your appointments - I found, and am still finding - that when I am hit wit...

Re: How Do You Go On?

I am sorry for the confusing signature. I started at what was assumed a Stage III, then was told I was probably a Stage II or I when tissue extracted after my surgery showed no evidence of cancer cells. Here we are three months later Stage IV. Thank you everyone - this is a very special group of peo...

How Do You Go On?

Yesterday I had my review of my baseline scans with my oncologist. I was diagnosed last November, did radiation, chemo and ultimately APR completed in June of this year. Scans show one spot on my liver (size of a quarter) and possibly a nodule in my left lung. I will have a PET scan to confirm the l...

Re: 7 YEARS STAGE 4 TODAY

I received the news yesterday. I am Stage IV. So glad to hear there is hope beyond my 2 1/2 year time limit. This must be a fast growing cancer - just diagnosed last November. Who knows. Liver mets, possible lung mets in 10 months.

Re: Rectovaginal fistula

Joanne, I don't think I have posted to this board since last July. I just happened to be looking for information and saw your post. First, I find it so odd that colorectal surgeons speak of changing your life with a permanent colostomy as if they were talking about the weather. Unfortunately I now h...

Re: APR TOMORROW FISTULA REPAIR - SO SCARED

Hello everyone - I am one week and one day out from surgery. So far all is going well physically, mentally struggling just to accept the ostomy, my new life, etc. Soccermom2boys - you mentioned walking. How far did you walk in the beginning. Today was my first day outside - just went for a little ri...

APR TOMORROW FISTULA REPAIR - SO SCARED

This has been a long journey. I know we have all been on very long journeys but now, when I am committed to hopefully one of the final steps I would like to get in my car and run. I wish I was brave I am scared. Since I was diagnosed last November my life has gone into a tailspin. Who has had an APR...

Is Anyone Out There Tonight?

On June 24th I will have an APR and repair of a rectal-vaginal fistula. In April I had a local excision - trying to save my bowel function but pathology indicated that probably more cancer cells are alive in the surrounding tissue. I am terrified. I guess I would just like to hear some encouraging w...
