Re: MY CEA

if you do a search on CEA there are lots of messages where we discuss CEA. Bottom line - small fuluations aren't a problme - what is a small fulucation? well that depends upon your history of who acccurate the CEA tracks to cancer activty. for some people CEA has not meaning whatsoever - while some ...

Re: Moderation policy question

one other discussion point someone raised.... that a newbie might be put off if we keep a lot of threads about those who have passed on.... I've though about this and I don't think this is a big a concern and I think it's better that they see the whole picture. the reality is that many of us may not...

Re: Stage IV untreated x 5mos and getting scan!

as we've discussed, he has made his choice to not to continue any treatment. but on the other hand, don't be to decide if the PET Scan doesn't show too much, all in all, sometimes this cancer can move pretty slowly. (of course, if that does end up being the case, that is doesn't show to much progres...

Re: Neo-adjuvant chemo, when to operate? Who knows?

this is goign to be a very difficult question for you to any meaning level. 1) none of us are doctors and 2) we don't have access the your detailed medical information even if we were a doctor to make such a decision. I think it's safe to say that there is a lot of variation both in doctors approach...

Re: Grudging admiration for cancer

not necessarly related to if Mets spread to mets, if a patient has a lot of mets showing up, many targeted target specialists (docs taht doc RFA, Cyberknife, SIRT Spheres, etc). don't necessarly sign off on doing the target treatment becuase they want to see stability. the issue, if they treat 5 or ...

Re: Newly diagnosed Stage 4 colon cancer, seeking info/websites

I was also late stage IV but had no symptoms - my only symptom was pain in my left left (cancer that had already moved into the bone of my leg). That's what makes this such a horrible illeness - now warning. Jan will be my 2nd year since my DX. I'm still working (I miss about 1 or 2 weeks every two ...

Re: Grudging admiration for cancer

I've had this conversation with my doctor and done some reading on this specific issue of does cancer spread from mets. And I have learned the same thing - doctors don't know - latest research seems to indicate that it may not spread from mets, that instead microscopic cancer cells already in blood ...

Re: Misconceptions about 'fiduciary responsibilities'--not OT!

I think the mega point is that some of you believe that drug companies are directing what cancer treatements or cures they develop or release directly because of profit. I don't believe that. Any company in buisness for profit is considering profi strongly, to stay in buisness, but there is no real ...

Re: Skull base surgery with low platelets?

First of all I am praying to Father Seelos for your husband http://seelos.org – his prayers have always helped me in bad times such as this. I haven’t heard of the doctors you are going to too, but as you know surgery is so related to what individual doctors have done before and what they are comfor...

Re: Misconceptions about 'fiduciary responsibilities'--not OT!

it's such a complicated issue and it's so easy to just want to find THE bad guys.

I wish I had answers when people raise some of these valid issues - but I don't, I just know the answers aren't so simple. Fixing one thing wihtout breaking something else is hard.

Re: Newbie,Hubby 41 DX stage III scared

These are some of the worse of the times. So much information that's hard to understand. You are trying to be strong for your husband and your family and you yourself are scared. First of all there is a lot of room for hope. Stage IIIB is a dx with a lot of room for treatment. Your husband is strong...

Re: Misconceptions about 'fiduciary responsibilities'--not OT!

not specific to oncologist or cancer doctors, but some of these doctors don't have it so rosey.... (we do have a lot of friends who are doctors in various fields). the cost of running a practice and malpratice is pretty high in some of these fields - an OB/GYN neting 500k could easily be netting les...
