Re: New to site

I agree with what the others said. Find a good Rectal/Colon Surgeon and if possible have it done with scope. I had a Lap LARS and it went very well and not a lot of pain. I pray all goes well for you.

Re: Neoadjuvant ChemoRad Advice

Big Jay, Make sure u get a good rectal surgeon. I feel this is key. Hopefully he can do operation with a scope. My first surgeon was bad and wanted to do wait and see approach. It almost cost me dearly. My second surgeon was great. He did a Lap LAR operation. He did it with scope and I had no issues...

Re: I'm sure this is insensitive but...

Get the test done and you will know. Stop trying to figure it out on Google. Pray you do not have cancer. Cancer sucks. Until you find out no sense of saying I think I have it. Just get the test done. I do not mean to be rude but I am in the middle of chemo and cancer sucks. You do not know if you h...

Re: Scared of chemo

Dancer0707 I understand how you feel my 1st surgeon told me it was not that bad but he was wrong and it was more advanced. I agree with what the others said in their posts. Chemo sucks but is it necessary to get rid of the evil cancer. I am finishing up my 6th treatment tomorrow. It has been up and ...

Re: 6 rounds FOLFOX done - 1/2 way there . . . .need encouragement

Ann Clare I understand everything you wrote. I am finishing up my 6 round tomorrow when they take the pump off. My hardest experience has been mental. Some days I feel really down but I just tried to stay positive and try to get to finish line. I do get cold/sensitivity. I was getting stomach issue ...

Re: APR TOMORROW FISTULA REPAIR - SO SCARED

MDk I pray all goes well tomorrow. It is very stressful to have surgery but it sounds like you have a skilled surgeon and you want to get that evil out your body. I was scared of surgery myself and did not have it for awhile. Waiting was not a good move. The cancer in my body was trying to travel. I...

Re: Guilt over not being super woman right now

Lacik, r I know exactly how you feel. Our situations are very similar in many aspect. We are around same age, got dx around same time, and our dx are very similar. I have been trying to work during my chemo. I too have a very flexible work schedule. At first I tried to work each day and tried to tak...

Re: People Minimalize What Is Happening to Me

You are not overreacting. Cancer is evil. You should not feel bad about doing the surgery. You felt it was the best chance to get healthy. People should never underestimate cancer. It is sneaky and deadly. If you look at my signature I was passive at first with my treatment. My first surgeon told me...

Re: Newly Diagnosed. Nervous about Chemo

BondGirl11 my situation is very similar. I had Lap LAR surgery and all went well. They said cancer went to lymph node system. Was debate among pathologists if it went to a lymph node. Oncologist recommend 6 months of FolFox for an aggressive treatment plan. I had choice of Xeloda pills or infusion p...

Re: Anyone have luck with non-traditonal late stage treatment

It is a good sign she is going to City of Hope. It is one of the best cancer hospital on the west coast. Your friend should listen to what they recommend. They are the experts if they said there is not hope than she could explore non traditional options. If they say she should have surgery and chemo...

Re: Searching for what is or is not reasonable

I would try to find the best colo-rectal surgeon to do the surgery. In my opinion you could travel for this care. Since it is surgery and it is not on going like Chemo. I live in So Cal and went to a major cancer center with a great surgeon to get it done. I did not trust the surgeon at the local ho...
