Re: Peripheral neuropathy question

Hmm, my understanding was that they would dial it down if/when you had neuropathy issues while going through the treatments. Glad to hear you are otherwise strong and healthy. Here's to your almost end to chemo--woo hoo! There is nothing like the feeling on that day, I am happy for you to be so clos...

Re: Peripheral neuropathy question

I am living with post-chemo neuropathy hell as I write--ugh! So I did all eight of my FOLFOX treatments with the regular dose of Oxi. I had the cold sensitivity for about a week after each round, but that was always it and it was only in my hands and I could easily shoo it away by warming them back ...

Re: FOLFOX Treatment Diary

I am glad to hear today is treating you much better than yesterday! Gotta say that I love reading your posts between the "hot bootie" and "dire rear" and the martini shaking, you had me cracking up! Sad what we endure to get some humor, but always good when we can find the humor ...

Re: Joint/Muscle Pain on Xelox

Yes. I had this pretty bad. My oncologist said that it was not the Xelox. He said he could test me for rheumetoid arthritis....but I never had that done. I would wake up at night because the joints in my hands hurt so bad...I could barely move them in the morning. My hips and leg joints hurt so bad...

Re: Mini rant - continued hair loss.

By all means, rant away! If you can't rant here about this kind of stuff then where else can you?! My heart is aching for you as I just finished eight rounds of Folfox and so my already thin hair feels even more thin than I ever thought possible! It really does suck that having cancer alone is enoug...

Re: Neoadjuvant ChemoRad Advice

While I'm not looking forward to the next year I have now reached the point where I want to just get it over with. The sooner it gets started the sooner it'll be over. Yes, once you actually get started with the whole treatment process, that alone will help with some of that internal stress of deal...

Re: Maryland Support Groups?

Hey--just my two cents, but why don't you all just pick say a church hall type of place that is relatively central and say lets all meet at 7 on the third Wednesday of the month (or whatever time/day works best)? I realize no facilitator would be involved, but I would think just getting together to ...

Re: Help from friends afar.

This is a simple one and requires only a cell phone that texts and takes pictures! Have her send you a "smile a day" which can be a picture or image of literally anything that she thinks would make you smile from a field of wild flowers to someone wearing a hoodie that proclaims "I po...

Re: Neoadjuvant ChemoRad Advice

Just replied to your question regarding the Xeloda under AppleTree's chemoradiation thread. Hope it is of some help for you! As I said in that post, to me the chemoradiation was the "easiest" hurdle of the whole shebang for me--I bounced back so much more quickly than I had anticipated. No...

Re: My Chemo/Radiation notes

Big Jay--not that I wrote this thread, but had rectal cancer so I wanted to answer your question for you. You take the Xeloda pills only on the days you have radiation treatments which is typically Mon-Fri. You take them after food in the morning and then again after food in th evening. I believe th...

Re: Am I the only one who dreads infusion day?

I was exactly the same way on the Sunday nights before infusion Mondays--I totally can empathize. I always managed to get a cry in on that day and was just miserable with anticipation of what was to come. And I 100% agree that by day two of the pump it was just so annoying and I would refer to it as...

Re: FOLFOX Treatment Diary

First of all, love your tag line "Embrace the Suck"--if that's not the truth! What caught me on your last post was how you hated going to the cancer center even though the people there couldn't be nicer. I feel exactly the same way. I would go to every round of chemo with an internal sulki...

Re: Neulasta plus Claritin

I had to have Neulasta shots after four of my rounds of Folfox. Don't know the science behind it, but I too was told by the nurses at the infusion center to take Claritin or Zyrtec (which is what I already had at home so I used it instead). They said to take it the day of the shot plus for two days ...

Re: Probably have colon cancer

Wow, as if having cancer doesn't put you on a roller coaster of emotions as it is, you really got a mental workout these past few days. I am so very sorry you have already had to experience so much emotionally and the "fun" hasn't even started yet. Well, easier said than done, but take a d...

Welcome to the club nobody ever wants to join, but you will find some of the best people and advice around with regards to colorectal cancer. Yeah, waiting totally sucks and it's amazing how the brain can so easily derail your thoughts to cancer, cancer, cancer. I imagine it is how we all felt after...
