Re: Nik Colon - all ok?

I also noticed her missing on the board for at least this past week, but I am hoping it is because of that vacation she had mentioned (Wisconsin?) and that she is too busy enjoying that break to chime in. :D

Re: Sides of mouth cracks

I experienced this as well this spring during chemo--ouch! To my knowledge I did not have any yeast infection, I just went with medicated Blistex and time (took a good two weeks at least for it to clear up). Actually, I even used Aquaphor on it as it felt like it was never going to heal and was rath...

Woo hoo, so glad to hear all went well and such great news regarding your status! Rest up so you can kick that respiratory infection. Enjoy your post-surgery celebration, you've earned it. :)

Re: But I don't want to!!!

I had a very weepy day yesterday, I think I got it all out though. I am in a much better mood today. Worried that the current onc thinks I have a new tumor that they don't have the technology to get to and it is not responding to the Folfox. Hoping the new onc will be able to figure it out and be b...

Re: August Adventures 2

Sorry to hear you struggled with the prep, as if you need anything else to add to the anxiety. Well, take comfort in that once you are whisked away, you will be given anesthesia and will be out in a deep slumber for a bit (my personal favorite part to these procedures!). Hang tough Cowgirl, you got ...

Re: Peripheral neuropathy question

Yes, I want to get the word out to people that it's at least worth checking out. The oncologist was very dismissive of both gabapentin and Lyrica, told us the side effects aren't worth the minimal help they offer. The palliative care doctor had a very different opinion. His first-line approach with...

Re: The waiting...

Sending you best wishes as you start the beginnings of kicking this beast to the curb! It's a tough time mentally no doubt, get in some good crying sessions if you need to, they can be therapeutic (speaking from experience on that!). Fingers crossed it is contained to just the tumor and is a low sta...

Re: O/T - My friend lost her cancer battle

Awww, I am so sorry to read of your loss. I can't begin to know how hard this is for you, but I know it has to be tough and my heart aches for you and her family. Cancer just sucks!

Re: Tough Decisions

I feel you with the dental work! I was only on four months of FOLFOX and when I went to the dentist a month after my last round, I walked out needing two fillings, one root canal, and a tooth extracted and therefore a bridge to cover the opening. I do like my sweets, not going to lie, but I was bein...

Re: Peripheral neuropathy question

Yes, you have earned an entire vineyard's worth of wine-enjoy! It's funny because by the time you get to that last round you are so worn down mentally and physically you really have not much left in you to celebrate the way you think one might at the end of it all. Crying is a definite natural react...

Re: The waiting...

You will come to learn in time, you can eat all the right food, lead a healthy life and still end up with cancer, YET your neighbor eats junk food, very overweight, does not believe in exercise and will never get cancer. I believe they call this "life" :D . We here call it a journey. So w...

Re: Peripheral neuropathy question

Soccermom, I had also heard poor reviews re: meds for neuropathy and expected hubby wouldn't benefit from the Lyrica, but it has made a huge difference for him. Before taking it, I had to help him with small shirt buttons. Now he is able to do anything on his own - including play guitar, which we w...

Re: Peripheral neuropathy question

Hmm, my understanding was that they would dial it down if/when you had neuropathy issues while going through the treatments. Glad to hear you are otherwise strong and healthy. Here's to your almost end to chemo--woo hoo! There is nothing like the feeling on that day, I am happy for you to be so clos...

Re: Peripheral neuropathy question

I am living with post-chemo neuropathy hell as I write--ugh! So I did all eight of my FOLFOX treatments with the regular dose of Oxi. I had the cold sensitivity for about a week after each round, but that was always it and it was only in my hands and I could easily shoo it away by warming them back ...
