Folfiir runs out of magic. Lonsurf next???

After 18 rounds of folfiri, my mother had a pet scan last week. The para aortic lymph node met did not shrink compared to the pet scan in may. Our regular onc is on vacation and the substitute onc that we saw said we may have to change the chemo regimen to either stivarga or lonsurf. Given the horro...

O/T: Oncologist Work Load

A little bit off-topic. But, on average, how many patients does an oncologist usually have on file?

Re: PET Scan update

The onc showed us the slide that has a bright orange spot inside what looked like a top-view cross-section of the uterus.

PET Scan update

My mother CT scan last week showed that the para-aortic lymph node met and 2 peri met are not shrinking. So a pet scan was done earlier this week. The para-aortic lymph node light up and the 2 peri mets did not light up. The onc said that folfiri is still working, so more chemo will be done. But, th...

Ag 15-3 marker

For my mom's most recent infusion, the lab work includes a test for Ag 15-3 marker, which was not previously tested for. According to google, ag 15-3 marker is relevant mainly for breast cancer, but could be of value in colon cancer cases too. Any forum members had lab work that included the Ag 15-3...

Mets Unchanged?

So my mother had a ct scan earlier this week, and the two peri mets and lymph node are practically unchanged since the february ct scan. So, does that mean folfiri, which my mom had for the last twelve treatments, has run out of magic? We won't see the onc until next week. What would happen next? An...

Re: Neupogen Back-To-Back Days

My original post was poorly worded. Let me clear it up. My mother had a single neupogen shot each day for three consecutive days two weeks ago. The first one was given right after the 5fu pump was removed on wednesday (march 30th) . Then one on both the thursday (march 31th) and friday (april 1) of ...

Neupogen Back-To-Back Days

My mom is getting a single neupogen shot on 3 consecutive days right after 5fu pump removal, instead of 3 shots spread out over the "bye week". Anyone had similar experiences?

Re: When to stop testing?

I would say ask to be checked (blood work, ct scan) every year. It seems that with cancer, you would never know when it will strike again. The only thing that can be done is to catch it early when it returns, so treatments could be applied early enough to stop a re-occurrence in its tracks.

12 More Rounds Of Folfiri

So we had the dr's appointment last thursday, and mom was disappointed about ct scan results and the lack of "cure". But the onc was a bit more positive about the ct scan results. The onc said that the peri mets shrinkage combined with the lymph node necrosis are a sign that folfiri is wor...

Fearing the Next Dr's Appointment

It turns that my mom thought the last six folfiri treatments would cure her, and that at tomorrow's meeting with the onc she would get a clean bill of health. She even called up all relatives and friends the past several days informing them of the impending "good news". I really fear the s...

Heart Problems?

My mom had a ct scan, and it was discussed in this thread.

The ct scan report also refers to some "coronary artery calcifications". So my mom has some heart problems? Any forum members had coronary artery calcifications? What are the implications?

@Cowgirl918

I got scan results from the patient web portal. I haven't told my mom yet. We will be seeing the onc thursday.

New CT Scan Result

After 6 treatments of folfiri, my mom had her ct scan today, and the highlights are: -two peritoneal nodules shrunk from 10mm to 7mm -one 20mm para-aortic lymph node unchanged, but with increased central hypodensity -two new nodules, measuring 3mm, in lung My stomach hurts from just reading the ct s...
