Thank you for all the work you do to keep us informed. The hope you provide is immeasurable, but we always need to remember you do this work while fighting your own battle. I, for one, am eternally grateful.

Re: Cancer growing through scar?

My husband had a wound that wouldn't heal; his plastic surgeon recommended a diet as high in protein as he could manage. He was doing two shakes and a bar each day (60+ grams of protein) plus lots of chicken and fish and veggies. I do think it helped.

Re: Stereotactic Radiation Timeline

I don't know how to link to the results, but searching the entire forum for the word "stereotactic" brought up 8 pages of results... did you find any information in past posts?

Re: Cancer growing through scar?

It's pretty common for part of a wound to open up, particularly in an area that is constantly being bent and twisted like the abdomen. When this happened to my husband, the nurse told us to use a cotton swab to lightly pack it with a "Nu Gauze" strip (remove and replace 2x daily). This act...

Re: Immunotherapy Treatment Xilonix for CRC

My husband has now had 4 infusions on the trial. He gets saline, then the trial drug or saline placebo, then more saline for a one-hour observation period. We believe he is getting the drug, because his face became flushed all four times only after they hung the "trial" bag on his IV, and ...

Just went back and re-read that thread. "Lettuce has feelings too." Kenny could always make me laugh.

Re: Not diagnosed, refuses medical treatment

I agree with Pita. Even if he DOESN'T have cancer, he could have malnutrition and/or dangerous blood loss from UC/Crohn's. I'd get him to the ER as soon as possible. Good luck.

Re: Colostomy Leaking Since Surgery - 8 Days

This update put a smile on my face. I am so very grateful that you found competent care for your mom, despite the horror show that other hospital put you through. You are an amazing daughter and advocate. I know you said the new surgeon wouldn't badmouth the other surgeon, but I am curious to know.....

Re: Breast cancer confirmed

Just wanted to share that the process, while challenging, isn't a horror story for everyone... I have a friend who was at high risk for BC due to another cancer she had as a child, and her docs recommended mastectomy and reconstruction as the safest route. She was 40 at the time. The first week at h...

Re: Post Treatment 2nd Opinion Oncologist - Questions to Ask? - Update

I am so glad to hear about your new oncologist. The most shocking part of the cancer treatment "experience" for me has been the wild variation in how oncologists manage patients... especially when it seems like they're recommending something that goes against standard of care (like no scan...

Re: Girlfriend fighting stage IV colon cancer

I am so sorry for her struggles. A couple of thoughts: Palliative care should be doing everything they can to help. If they aren't, strongly advocate for her and/or ask to see someone else. My husband's palliative doc recommended a couple of things that changed our lives for the better. First, Fenta...
