1st round of Oxi done

Was not as bad as I was expecting. I ate a big 12 inch meatball sub and choc milk about and hour before treatment. Treatment lasted 2 hours with no ill feeling at all. It is winter here so as soon as I left hospital and got outside my fingers began to tingle and my nose also. Once I got in the car i...

Re: sloan Kettering, costs, insurance etc.

since I was diagnosed back in Oct 2013 I have really come to appreciate the fact I live in Ontario Canada. I have all the treatments, scans, surgery and perscriptions without any cost to myself. My biggest expense to date has been hospital parking and ostomy supplies which are given to me for free b...

Re: New CRC screening test

FOBT is not reliable my surgeon said he could send 100 crc patients to do the test and 40% would come back positive. I had the test Jan 2012 and I was negative normal. I was ready for another test Jan 2014 but was dx with Rc in October 2013. i had a 5cm tumor and my surgeon said I probably had it fo...

Re: T3N0M0 and mets

First of all, you have to understand that cancer does spread by lymph nodes AND by the bloodstream. I have a friend who lurks here....originally dxd stage I, no positive lymph nodes and yet she now has lung mets. To this day there still are no known lymph nodes that light up on a PET or that are enl...

Re: T3N0M0 and mets

kiwi Yes anything to reduce the odds is something to look at. I too enjoy working out and not so much strength training but more cardio. Afterall the heart is THE most important muscle in the body. Saying that I was alean 192 lbs before surgery on a 6'4" frame with a healthy BMI. My problem is ...

Re: T3N0M0 and mets

Kiwi for sure I believe that exercise and diet are so important. But saying that I was already extremely fit at diagnosis. i ride a bike thousands of km's a summer, play ice hockey and visit the gym 3-4 times a week. I don't drink, smoke or have any family history. Over the years I ate a lot of proc...

Re: T3N0M0 and mets

I would assume that many stage 2 are not given the option for aduvant chemo whereas it is considered part of ongoing treatment with stage 3's. Just the thought of cancer cells floating around is a scary thought and that is the reason I am starting the chemo next week. with everything I have read up ...

Re: just curious T3N0M0 and mets

Yes it makes sense kinda like the old saying "misery loves company" I would agree that most people that have success move on and the COLON TALK forum becomes a distant memory.I am hoping this for myself. Although I see many on here with literally hundreds of post helping others and helping...

T3N0M0 and mets

I am fairly new here and I have been reading alot of post that help me in my journey and what to expect based on what others have experienced. I don't want to sound ignorant but I have noticed a lot of posters are for example T3N0M0 (same as I was at dx stage IIA) and develope a met sometime after t...

Re: My surgery this Wed 3/19....positive support needed!

Just had my surgery and it is tough but you will get through it. I just focussed on something that I want to do more than anything else, something that cancer has taken away for me for the time being. last November i walked into my dressing room and told the guys that my season was over and I had ca...

Re: Looking for some good advice

Thanx Kiwi The doc has told me that I am to have 8 sessions and they seem to think i will tolerate it pretty well. I had no effects from the 5FU back in December and I thought that would be hell at least that is what they prepared me for. She also told be that if the Oxy gets to severe with any risk...

Re: Looking for some good advice

I met with ONC last weeek and decided that it is my best interest to get the aduvant chemo. Although I have the best case scenario after my operation and pathology report (technically she said I am cancer free) she said that since a T3 tumor is considered aggressive you just never know if a cluster ...

Re: Looking for some good advice

Sounds like we are in the same boat. Glad to hear you are doing better and your ordeal almost behind you. It would be nice if there was recent updated info regarding post op chemo after a Complete Pathological Response. It just seems everything is already a min of 5 years old and out dated. But sayi...
