Re: Bev G

Why them and not me?

Check out the latest blog post by Diana Sloan on survivor's guilt. It's a great read!

Re: New worried member...

Cannot agree more with the others. There are too many of us who have been dismissed by doctors because we are "too young for cancer" or some other excuse. If cost is an issue, look into local programs that may help with a colonoscopy, talk to their finance, DO SOMETHING. Do not wait.

Re: Scan results not what I had hoped for ...

Sorry you're going through this Shana. Have you had genetic testing done? It may help you out with narrowing the scope of which trials you want to look at. I think it usually takes a couple of weeks, so you might want to ask your onc about it.

Damn. We weren't done with him. There was so much more to be said, done, and laughed about. He will most definitely be missed. Adding him to the list of those we carry on for.

Re: Doctor Bedside Manner Training

I think the idea is to expose them to potential situations prior to actually being in front of a patient and having to deliver bad news. Guidance is given on what's appropriate and what isn't with hopes that they will learn and improve their bedside manner. Can you imagine if they asked us patients?...

BCIR Procedure

Has anyone ever heard of this? A friend of mine has recently been dx'd with rectal cancer and is looking at a colostomy, but the BCIR was mentioned as well. Apparently the procedure started in 1985 but there aren't any doctors in the SF Bay Area that are skilled in it, so it leads me to wonder if it...

Re: Rant - colon vs rectal cancer

Typically it doesn't bother me - much more important that I'm having a conversation about it. Sometimes I will take it as an opportunity to educate the person I'm talking to, sometimes I don't bother correcting them. But when it comes to people who should know better I will in fact make the correcti...
