Re: Colonscopy tomorrow

Well if the colonoscopy is tomorrow that means that you've gotten through the worst of it today - prep. I was on an annual colonoscopy schedule following dx, but last Fall my surgeon said I could move it out to every other year now because the original site has remained clear and looks good. Aside f...

Re: Re-radiation

I was recently (last 2 months) told that once was all. Beyond that it becomes a quality of life issue because of the effect on the bowels.

Re: A Bit of Good News

AWESOME! I had VATS too and it was so much easier than any of my other surgeries. Day 1, ICU because it's lung surgery, Day 2 to the regular room, Day 3 I was crawling up the walls to get out of there. I was just about the sign the "I don't care what you're telling me, I feel fine and am discha...

Re: Simethicone to the Rescue

OMG, I couldn't pass gas after the first surgery (colon resect) and was so distended my belly looked like I was birthing an alien. The pain was INCREDIBLE. I wish I/they had known about Simethicone. I'm sorry you had to endure that, but will be praying extra hard that you get out tomorrow. Hope to s...

Re: I *SWEAR* I'm not dropping acid

I'll definitely go pick up some Benedryl. The only tape I have on is directly over the wound and it's the steri-strips, so I'm not sure if I could use a Benedryl lotion over that? They tell me the steri-strips should start falling off this week, but that's a total lie and the doc told me so. :) It a...

Re: Curious - Who is working- or on disability?

Technology today (and a fabulous company) allow me to work remote, so I don't have to be there physically except for a week out of the month. The flexible hours and making treatments into a routine really helped me to be able to work through it. The key to everything is communication. Set the proper...

I *SWEAR* I'm not dropping acid

Post hospital crazies. 1. My incisions are healing and therefore itching like mad. I put extra cushioned padding over it to absorb the extra leakage, and I can't help it - I keep running my hands over it like a pregnant woman rubbing her belly. My husband looks at me with concerns that the paid meds...

Re: John603 has passsed away

Oh Linda, I'm am so very sorry. I'm at a loss for words as anything I could say would be so insignificant compared to what you are going through. John was a great inspiration to many of us and I'm glad that he had his last days at home with you. Our hearts are with you in this great time of grief. P...

Re: I'm back home!!!

Fletch, I've learned all the tricks and trades to getting out early and they aint easy, but boy is it worth it! I have been dubbed "the walker". as of day 2, I get up to walk as far as I can after every meal. That may be just standing up and sitting right back down, then to the door and ba...
