Re: How has perspective changed the way you act?

I used to count calories and weigh myself daily to lose weight...now I eat as many calories as I can and weigh myself daily hoping to gain weight. I never thought about pain and weakness now I celebrate the days that I have no pain and have energy. I used to hate good byes and how people always said...

Re: Officially joined the FOLFOX bandwagon

So it has warmed up here and was a balmy 2 C today...get your shorts out! So I have finished my chemo week with a few bumps in the road. As mentioned before the infusion was nothing too bad and felt really good Tuesday and most of Wednesday- left work early and went for a long nap. Thursday was pump...

Re: Simple life changes could stop common cancers

I too agree with all of the above and am starting to get annoyed with all the research that they are doing to "prove" that exercise and a better diet etc. can prevent certain cancers. Eating well and exercising should be common knowledge by now so instead of spending all this money on this...

Re: Scanxiety Week 1

Thanks for the advice Skip...the pain is unbearable and live on painkillers for about a week. My pain only happens though when I missed the tx- it certainly felt like all my mets were trying to break free at once. Onc thinks though that the FOLFIRI wasn't working anymore and that the cancer was beco...

Re: Stage 4 cancer survivors: HOW DID YOU DO IT?????????????????

Oh Lisa, I can understand your fears- it sounds exactly how I felt when I was dx at 30 with stage iv. You have not received confirmation and there have definitely been cases of misdiagnoses or things not showing up in scans etc. My best advice is take it day by day - deal with the tests and don't th...

Re: Hair is growing back - but it's the wrong colour.

After 2 tx of FOLFIRI my hair started to break off- never went bald but just pixie short. I was hoping that my hair would grow back to the baby blond I had when I was a kid and maybe with some curl or life to it this time...no luck there. It is growing back light brown (mousy) - not sure what my adu...

Officially joined the FOLFOX bandwagon

So today was my first FOLFOX tx. Dr. said that spike in CEA and extreme abdominal pain was most likely caused by the cancer. My last FOLFIRI tx did reduce ANC (?)/ liver function test quite a bit- so reduced the swelling but because of my last CT scan which was a bit iffy they thought it time to swi...

Re: counts plummetted..wt???

Oh Kelley, I know how you feel...just when you think we can catch a break! My WBC plummeted after the first FOLFIRI and have been on Neupogen ever since...even then my neutraphils have been low. Your body has been through so much and maybe needs a little more time to recoup...it is so frustrating bu...

Joining the FOLFOX Gang

So after my sucky CEA results I phoned my onc today to discuss the option of doing a redraw after another round of FOLFIRI to see if it was my liver inflammation that caused the spike or if it was a wrong reading etc. i did not speak to him but the nurse told me that there was a notation in my file ...

Re: Sucky CEA

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I hope this is just a once off. Bev my liver enzymes were higher recently and have had a lot of "liver pain" lately- I will call my onc today and see what he says. Praying that this is the reason.

Sucky CEA

Sucky, sucky, suckidy, suck (should replace the s with a f)...after a great start with FOLFIRI my CEA came flying down but my result from last week came at 1773- up from 674. I am hoping that this might have to do with pain that I was experiencing in my liver the weeks before and having to miss a ch...

Re: Folfox round #45 underway......I'm so happy....

That's awesome!!! I asked my onc today what the longest he has seen working on FOLFIR..he has seen 34 tx still working. I am scared to go onto FOLFOX from FOLFIRI- which we decide in the next weeks....I hope I can last as long...set a record for us!

Re: A port vs an IV. What would you choose?

I'm a huge fan of my port..insertion not the worst thing to undergo a bit uncomfortable for a few weeks but definitely beats my picc....very unsexy, shouts "I'm sick",and a pain to shower with..little tubes dangling out of your arms- no thank you. I would not want to go the vein route as I...
