Re: Time to decide whether to do chemo or just observe

Dan, IF you're not sure about doing chemo, one alternative would be doing an immunotherapy trial with a vaccine to prevent recurrence Immunotherapy trial for those NED : http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56485 A fellow on this board, Maellous , went recently for it, bec...

Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

Tdubz, just in case you didn't read, this is from past June, at the ASCO meeting. I don't know if it is your case, but it might be worth mentioning to your doctor. Stage III: 3 months of FOLFOX was nearly as effective as 6 months Shorter Chemo Duration for Colon Cancer May Spare Patients Toxicity Ne...

Upcoming Immuno trial for CRC at NIH

The Pexa-Vec +durvalumab / Pexa-Vec +durvalumab + tremelimumab trial at National Institutes of Health is now in the clinicaltrials. gov database --and not only at the Late Stage MSS-CRC clinical trials finder , where it was, since weeks ago : ) So it has a NCT number now: NCT03206073 A Phase I/II St...

Re: Lung Cancer. Your thoughts please.

So sorry about your godmother, Karen. And yes, I agree with her. Immunotherapies are not free of side effects, for many, and of course those side effects might be life-threatening. There are many factors in play, in each case: prior treatments, in which shape the immune system is, even mutations tha...

Re: Lung Cancer. Your thoughts please.

seen her discharge paperwork today from hospital and she is stage 1B NSCLC squamous cell carcinoma. Trev, I guess someone made a biopsy, that is a very specific diagnosis. Otherwise, like CRguy, I would be wondering how they know it's a primary. So, maybe you are able to ask for a PF-L1 expression ...

Re: Lung Cancer. Your thoughts please.

stage 1B NSCLC squamous cell carcinoma. *Squamous* cancers respond well to immunotherapy. The first approval for Opdivo --nivolumab, and anti PD-1-- in USA, two years ago, was for NSCLC squamous cell lung cancer; only later it was approved for the other types of NSCLC. In Australia, you guys have K...

Re: MSI-high and Folfox

Thanks Maia and TxLiz. If I do have a recurrence I do plan to fight for immunotherapy! The folfox did virtually nothing on the infected lymph node that was left (it is out of the normal operating range). But I think I would rather have it surgically removed now. I guess I like the idea of getting r...

Re: MSI-high and Folfox

Stewsbetty, the best treatment for MSI is immunotherapy, an anti PD-1 checkpoint inhbitor. One, Keytruda, has been approved for MSI-high cancers, including CRC, this past May in USA. It is probably a matter of months until is approved in Canada, but you probably could obtein that off label, now, or ...

Re: Lung Cancer. Your thoughts please.

Cyberknife, other kinds of ablation, surgery, etc. depend on location of the mets, size, numbers, etc. Each case is unique. Yes, the immuno that has been approved in Australia is for non-small cell lung cancer; I assumed it was that one, because it is the most common and you did not mention other su...

So sorry about your wife's grandma diagnosis. Our old time fellow Wayne on this board, a CRC survivor, has been diagnosed months ago with NSCLC. He's in Australia too. CRGuy and I posted some ideas for him in the thread he started about it, here http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?...
