Re: Checking in.....STILL here, question for NED'ers

I am 33 years old, and officially disabled according to the government of Canada. Stage 2 surgery+chemo, NED, stage 4 surgery+chemo, NED. I'm grateful for sure. I am alive and able to do lots of things I love butt for sure there are SO many side effects of chemo and surgery. I am absolutely sick of ...

Re: CRC with one small liver met, low CEA

This sounds a lot like what I had. My onc, surgeon and I were all definitely going for curative and so far so good. I did FOLFOX as well.

Feel free to PM me if you want to chat :)

Re: When should you remove your port

Around here it depends on your diagnosis. I was metastatic when they put it in so odds are high for another reoccurrence so they leave it in for a while (1-3 years) after you're done chemo. I've had friends who have had them removed right after since their reoccurrence odds were much lower.

Re: Am I Supplementing with too Much Vitamin D?

I was taking about 5000iu daily when I had mine tested and it came back as 262nmol/L. My doc was NOT happy with it being in the toxic range. He asked I drop the amount I take by half. 76-250nmol/L is optimal.

Re: New met in 3 weeks???

My liver met was never seen on CT. PET scan detected it when my blood markers kept rising.

It does happen, unfortunately.

Chin up and see what the next steps are.

Re: Blindsided- new here stage 4

Sorry you've joined club Met :(

I have a similar story (stage 2, NED, mCRC). I was lucky enough to be resectable. Fingers crossed the apt tomorrow has some good news about what to do next.

Chin up,

Well said CRguy. I saw the news on my Facebook wall this morning and was flooded with emotion and tears. The world lost an incredible person and I can only imagine the loss her family feels.

Rest in peace Carmen <3

Re: Right hemicolorectomy pain

I had this too. My surgeon said it was normal. It did go away with time. I'd say it was about a year before things were as normal as they would be. I still have urgency and several BMs per day but I'm used to it now.

Re: New Member - right hemicolectomy issues

I found that it took a long time (maybe up to a year) to feel completely normal after my right hemicolectomy. BMs were not predictable etc. I was told by my surgeon that one specific site was very common to have lingering pain (it was one of the small laprascopic sites). I would try to book with you...

Re: Not able to tolerate Xeloda for more than 4 days - please guide

Xeloda was very hard for me to take. He may want to consider: - drinking tons of water (4-5L per day) - reducing the dose - taking a day off then restarting If he's taking oxi as well, could very well be oxi. For me, oxi was brutal. Day 4-5 were spent entirely in bed. Talk to his onc to see what can...

Re: 30 yrs old, 3 polyps

If it helps, my GI doc knew it was cancer when she did my scope :/ But my polyps and tumours were much larger than yours.

I was 30 at the time.

Chin up until you get results.
