Re: Colon Cancer, stage 2

Another member, Ski, asks this question a lot. How much would you regret deciding Not to have chemo if you havea recurrence in a few years. Will you beat yourself up? Or can you say , I made the right decision for me at the time, and I can live with that choice? What if one did chemo, it caused the...

Re: Folfiri questions??

I had two rounds with irinotecan before we decided to put it aside for now. It did cause me diarrhea, but since I have a colostomy, it was no big deal. My hair did get so thin from just the 2 rounds I ultimately decided to shave it - especially when the rash was all throughout my scalp. Strangely e...

Re: Colon Cancer, stage 2

Yes, a CT scan was done prior to the surgery. We have not ruled out the chemotherapy, however, it just SEEMS so invasive if they got the cancer out and no other signs of it. The Oncologist I have now is talking a port. I would rather something orally, but as of yet the dr office still has not rang ...

Re: BFF (fur/feathers/fins) HONOR ROLL

I will try to figure the picture thing later, but for now I will submit for the Honor Roll my 6 y.o. Shih Tzu named Kirby. He hasn't figured out the whole "mom doesn't feel good, she doesn't want to play now" thing. So, when I want to lay on couch, he insists on going for a walk or playing...
(He had not wanted to take it on Tuesday because his counts were fine on Monday). Bev
I think this is the main problem. His onc should have pushed him, or your husband should be a lilttle less stubborn  I no longer have the option, my one says neulasta after every t...

Re: Colon cancer treatment for elderly

Elderly may have a harder time with chemo and treatment for CRC. If grandma is mentally alert and competent to make decisions, she certainly should give her input. Does she have close relatives who will be able to help her at home, take her to appts, all that stuff? I have known several folks in 80'...

Do you remember what you were going to go get, when you got up from the computer  Regards, Michael    Have you found milk in your pantry? Do you have trouble rembering words during a simple conversation? That is my biggest issue. I had to ask someone once, "what is the nam...

Re: Let it die its own death

My husband was strong and healthy in every way except for this damn cancer. His body tolerated chemo very well and his attitude was wonderful. Yet the system failed him miserably. They had NOTHING to offer him to extend his life more than a very few months. Was that a failure, and is this failure t...

Ideas for advocacy

Since March is CRC awareness month, I am just throwing this out of ideas of awareness we can share with others. 1. Go to Call on Congress 2. My local radio station has a weekly "informational" hour. For $300, they will let citizens talk about informational issues, be it medical, environmen...

Then was taken off Zaltrap due to severe side effects. Since beginning of Dec, I have just been doing just folfiri. Since then, My CEA has...

"Helicopter" caregiving

Ok, just an observation made this morning during chemo. Might generate some flack. No offense meant to caregivers, I was one for my mom and sister, I know what it is like to be in those shoes. I was next to a man who came in feeling like crap. He told the nurse he was having fatigue, dizziness, vomi...
