Re: My Dear Husband is Cancer Free and with God

Nikki,
I just saw this. It was so hard to read. May he rest in peace. I am thinking about you and your family.

My husband participated in a study like this at Northwestern in Chicago. The doctor who did it has moved on to Boston.

Re: Help with split feet from Erbitux please

Liquid bandaid works just like the super glue. My husband has these diabetic sock things with gel in the heel. He smears on his cream or aquaphor of choice that week and puts them on overnight. You can buy dermatologic white gloves for about $3 and put them on your hands over cream/vaseline/aquaphor...

Re: Immunotherapy Trials

One does not preclude the other. For some trials, you have to have tumor tissue tested to see if you express something. It could take a while to qualify for a trial or for a slot to open. As a result, you could do chemo now while you prepare for eligibility or access a slot. Slots in some trials are...

Re: (Updated) 2013 ASCO: abstracts

Maia, Thanks so much for the updated info. He developed an allergy to NSAIDS. I have read that an allergy to Advil or Aleve does not necessarily mean an allergy to celebrex but he'd have to be tested. He went for a second opinion to U of C at one point. I think he should maybe go there for another v...

Re: ultrasound for pain relief from bone mets

Kathryn,
My husband's been having gastric problems due to abdominal lymph nodes or so they say. Any thoughts on what might be done? He's waiting to go on another clinical trial.

Debbi,
Pace yourself. Hopefully it's a long journey and this is just one step along the way. I think people travel with HAI pumps. Plan the trip and go on it.
Swinging some chickens your way.

Re: (Updated) 2013 ASCO: abstracts

Dianne and Maia, Eli had a chance at your trial at Georgetown. It took two sets of tumor tissue and 5 weeks to learn that his tumor did not express the PDL1 so he can't be in the trial. We've spoken to the nurse practitioner at Sarah Cannon in Nashville and they are about to have the trial there wit...

Thanks Maia.
I looked through them. PDL1 single agent trial is closed to colon cancer, by the way.

Re: Xeloda side effects

The problem you're encountering is that the annual ASCO meeting (American Society of Clinical Oncologists) started yesterday in Chicago and runs through Tuesday. In my experience, chemo nurses often know as much or more about side effects than the oncologist. Maybe you could contact a chemo nurse as...

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Been holding off on posting. I don't know what it is about the info on that PDL1 and avastin trial but Georgetown did do testing on Eli's tissue. The first round was his 2007 tissue and they said the slides were stained and they couldn't do the testing. Then it took a bit to get Genentech the 2010 t...

If I were in California I would either see Dr. Lenz at USC or a doctor at Stanford. Stanford folks are very interested in immunotherapy from what I can tell.
