Re: Folic Acid = Increased incidence of CRC??

Wow, scary. I took prenatal vitamins for two or three years in the late '90s when I was trying to get pregnant. I wonder if that's what did it.

Re: Stage IV Unite...

Funny thing Ellen, I was just thinking of you this evening and sent you a PM. My official status three and a half years into the battle: Several mets in my liver, bone mets in my spine, sacrum, hip and rib, lots of node involvement. I've known that I need to get back on chemo since last fall - delay...

So sad to lose another wonderful person to this dreaded disease. I'm sure she is now cancer free and in a beautiful place!

I used Nioxin when my hair was thinning on Folfiri. I think it helped me.

Re: Recurrance rectal in sacrum

When they did my rectal resection they found a tumor in my sacrum. It was inoperable due to extensive radiation damage. I so hope you hear better news.

Re: Off label or Compassionate Care Drugs?

Ellen, best of luck to you. I know I"ll eventually be in the same situation. I want to talk to my doctor about Davanat. Thanks to our "guest" for posting those helpful links. Ellen, please keep us posted on what you find out and whether you can qualify for compassionate us. If possibl...

Re: Questions on Erbitux

drtrudi, is the chemo working for you? Are the mets still there? Smaller? Still growing? I'm kind of surprised to see that your doc has had you on chemo non stop for more than a year. That's a whole lot of harsh meds. How are you doing? Does your doctor think he can erradicate the cancer completely ...

Re: Newbie here. Hopeful and scared at the same time.

You can beat this. It sounds like you are a stage III. Is that right? Or is it IV? What about the cancer your doctor found outside your colon, was it just the lymph nodes or is there a tumor still inside you? If it was just the nodes, then you have a very high percentage chance of being cured. Keep ...

Re: IV Contrast in Anus by a Re-used Enema with no Draining.

Is this a troll? Please be assured that you won't "catch" cancer from a used enema bag, though there are other things you could catch. Cancer is not contagious. Unless you've had an organ transplanted from a cancer patient or a blood transfusion from a cancer patient it's a pretty sure bet...

Re: Questions on Erbitux

Tom, thanks for the link. I have just started Erbitux and I found that article very helpful. My doc gave me a prescription for doxycyclin and an oral corticosteroid called Medrol. According to the article, the oral steroid would be used only for a very severe rash. I will ask my doctor to prescribe ...

Stopping the 5FU a bit early won't have an adverse effect on you. Staying on while you have the flu could make you very sick. I would say that you should insist in the dc.

Re: Diet & cancer guilt

Lots of good advice here. I stress over this stuff too. I had a good diet before cancer, haven't changed much. But I feel guilty now whenever I eat sugar - and I crave sugar ever since I got cancer. It's silly. I tell myself not to stress over it. But I still do. Probably the stress is much worse fo...

Re: could it be bone cancer?

I would agree that it could be lymphadema. How many lymph nodes did you have removed? It would be unusual for a bone met to appear in the ankle. Usually (but no always) they show up closer to the original tumor. Probably best to get it checked out, but don't worry too much in the meantime.
