Re: Surgery in a Few Hours

Thanks, everyone. I am sitting up in bed now feeling sore and drowsy. The surgery went very smoothly. Got the ileostomy, but also had great news that the cancer wasn't visible anymore, just a scar. We'll see how it does in the lab. I am nodding off so bye for now :D

Surgery in a Few Hours

I can't sleep, which is ok, I guess, since I will be knocked out for four hours for my surgery today. I think I got a total of 2 1/2 hours of sleep and now my husband will get up in half an hour and we will head out into the dark. I will be having a LAR for my rectal cancer. The tumor responded well...

Re: Mouth sores from 5FU

I got a prescription for that Magic Mouthwash and just took it. Wow, it feels like I just came back from the dentist's office. I will look into that lysine and biotene as well.

Got a swab test for strep throat today, but it came back negative, so i guess just a cold virus.

I am undergoing radiation for rectal cancer and really appreciate you all sharing about your experiences, since it will most likely be my experience in the future. My rad. oncologist said that one of my ovaries is in the line of fire, so to speak, but the oth...

Re: Mouth sores from 5FU

Thanks so much for your help, everyone. I found this site about a week ago and I am amazed by how helpful it is. There are just so many things I still need to learn but haven't had time to research. I just love this place! I will talk to my onc. tomorrow about something for the sores. Thanks for all...

Mouth sores from 5FU

This is my first post. I was diagnosed with Stage IIIB rectal cancer on December 22, 2010, and just completed my third week of radiation with a 24/7 5FU pump. Just two weeks more and I will be done and waiting to heal for surgery in early April. So far I have had few side effects and those have been...
