Re: Foods to avoid during chemotherapy

. . . I suggest not eating his absolute favorite foods during chemo only because eating it with nausea may turn him off to it in the future. A bland diet was easiest for me to tolerate, supplemented by protein shakes. Ditto Especially regarding nausea. Once I was gagging down water, chemo nurse not...

Re: Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Scheduled for end of month, and I fear I might have colon cancer

I understand. My dad was in the Air Force, so I understand how frustrating the military medical system can be. Just push the fact, "any rectal bleeding should be checked out with a colonoscopy, and NOT by an assumption, REGARDLESS of age." Assumption is NOT a medical diagnoses. If you are ...

Re: Did Daily Enema Users consult Doctors?

My surgeon basically said all I needed was benefiber and Imodium. . . My Onc told me to use that too. At that time, neither one of us knew actually why I was having so much problems (2/3 rectal muscles gone or dying). My only solution was not to eat anything until I was home for the day. Many days ...

Re: Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Scheduled for end of month, and I fear I might have colon cancer

First relax. Like many others who come, scared!!! Avoid Dr. Google, you can diagnose your self with anything with Dr. Google. Many people come here convienced that they have cancer only to learn after the colonoscopy that they are fine. Also know that many different issues could be causing your symp...

Re: Did Daily Enema Users consult Doctors?

. . . my surgeon who said "oh, you'll just make a couple extra trips to the bathroom...no biggie" , , , ! WOW  just wow  My surgeon was a bit more honest. 2/3 of my rectal muscles were destroyed due to radiation damage. I was already doing 20+ visits to the bathroom on a dail...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

There was a person who was diagnosed stage III, had her port removed soon after finishing treatment. At some point, she had a met. When they put the port back in her, she had problems with scar tissue. Did not work. They finally had to take port out and put it in on the other side. She decided that ...

Re: Constant Ribbon Stools

Yes, please let us know how your colonoscopy goes. If your dad had colitis, there is a chance you have it too. Please avoid Dr. Google, you can diagnose yourself with anything with Dr. Google. Just remember at your age, your chances of having this cancer is very rare, unless it runs in your family, ...

Re: Constant Ribbon Stools

Hi and welcome, First breath. Does colon cancer run in your family? The chances of you having colon cancer (unless it runs in your family) is very unlikely. Since you've had recent surgery, yes losing some weight can happen. When I'm stressed, I tend to eat, when I'm SUPER stressed, I tend not to ea...

Re: Pre-dx Burning Mouth Syndrome / Taste Change

I concur with CRguy, I did not have any of the burning mouth syndrome. In fact I had no symptoms, any test that should have been a red flag for colon cancer came back negative or normal. I had bleeding hemorrhoids, my PCP figured those bleeding hemorrhoids were going to be my excuse for getting my b...

Hi and welcome, sorry for the reason you are here.
