Re: MAP and colectomy

I have MAP. I also have ulcerative colitis. I am 69 years old I had a malignant polyp 20 years ago. Just recently I had another one. Both were caught in time No chemo or anything. I am having colonoscopies every 6 months. About 20 polyps are removed each time. They are all adenomas. My doctor is st...

Re: Is it possible for a rectal polyp to grow to 10cm aggressive T4 advanced tumour in 3 years?

Lee mentioned that he could not believe that a reputable surgeon would leave polyps but many did. Some only took biopsy if they looked odd?? I know of no reason why any good doctor would leave any polyp behind. You don't wait until the polyp turns cancerous to remove it. If you can get copies of al...

Re: Is it possible for a rectal polyp to grow to 10cm aggressive T4 advanced tumour in 3 years?

After the procedure, my consultant visited and confirmed all was ok. He highlighted signs of diverticulitis but did not require treatment. He also mentioned a small cluster of [I'm sure he said polyps] about a cm or so in size but there was nothing to be concerned about but it would be advised to c...

Re: Salami

I'm gonna throw my 2 cents into this thread. I'm from Montana, cattle and wheat country. I know too many ranchers who raised and ate cattle all there lives and lived to a ripe old age. One gentlemen I know, lived to 96, he died a few years ago. Colonoscopies are a more recent procedure. I'm not if h...

Re: Femoral and inguinal hernia

Lee, I have never heard of walking as being identified as contributing to parastomal or incisional hernias. Being upright and standing does contribute to the outward abdominal pressure gradient simply by virtue of the effects of gravity and the weight of abdominal organs and fat/adipose tissue. But...

Re: Colonoscopy at 25-- Scared

. . . The problem is I keep Googling and keep finding cases of people in my age range who have colon cancer and that's what's scaring me. Smh. :( Generally it is rare for people your age to get colon cancer. Yes it can happen butt it tends to be very rare. Generally when it does happen, it's becaus...

Re: Femoral and inguinal hernia

Not sure why either, butt to be honest, I did not need a CT or MRI to find my hernia. I have a permanent colostomy and over the years the hernia got more pronounced (bigger). About 3+ years ago I had a temporary repair, I went down 2 dress sizes. At some point, I will have my colostomy replaced on t...

Re: Proton Therapy for lung and Liver Mets

. . . I have only had Proton Therapy and the Colon Surgery. It has been almost 3 1/2 years, and I still feel good, play with the grandchildren in the pool, and live a normal life. The local Doctors in Macon had never heard of Proton Therapy, even though Loma Linda treated the first Proton patient i...

Good luck and let us know.

Re: Colonoscopy at 25-- Scared

Glad you are getting that colonoscopy. That will give you a true diagnoses, anything else is just a speculation. Try to avoid Dr. Google, sometime the information is out of date or just plan wrong. Your symptoms can be caused by many things, cancer is just one possibility. For what it is worth, many...
