Re: Good news.

Thank you, I am so happy to hear of folks that have managed CLL long term. I'm 68 making plans for my 90th birthday :D I always remember the words of my oncologist when I was diagnosed with stage III colonrectal and I was so scared. "It is between you and the cancer and I am betting on you"...

Re: For those who have NOT had recurrance whatever the stage

hI.....Still see my oncologist every 6 months for CT scans and CEA. "Things" in my lungs and liver since day 1. Oncologist is being very pro-active (thank goodness) and doing careful monitoring. Things have not been all "sunshine" I now have CLL (chronic lymph leukemia) MDS (bone...

Re: Cravings for Soda....massive cravings

When I was going through Chemo/radiation I had a Lager and Lime. I worried how this might affect my treatment. I mentioned it to the radiologist/oncologist and he said "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do that again"....I started to tear up..... and he looked at me and said 'WASTE A GOOD BEER WITH ADDI...

Re: Arghh! Radiation - the gift that keeps on giving!!

Hi Jaynee.....I was never informed that Chemo and radiation could cause such devastating side-effects. I remember the disussion with the chemo/radiologist and the "joke" was that radiation could cause me to be "sterile"...at age 59. The side effects of chemo were discussed during...

Re: Arghh! Radiation - the gift that keeps on giving!!

Jaynee....Chemo and radiation is definitely a two edged sword. I am almost 7 years out from Colonrectal however it has not been without a few bumps in the road. 1) I have MDS (bone marrow failure) my hemoglobin is low with anemia ..... I am told was caused by the Chemo 2) I have kidney damage GFR 23...

Re: Red face during 2nd course of Folfox

My first round of Folfox I had no problems (led me into a false sense of security) Second round all Hell broke loose when I got home. Raging temperature and bright red face and sick as a dog  . Next day I looked as though I had a severe "sun-burn". Third round my oncologist had me do ...

Re: spots on liver other than cancer????

I have had "simple hepatic cysts" show up on CT scans since day 1. I remember the first time I read the report I went absolutely crazy with worry. Radiologists and Oncologist assured me these are very common in Women, especially if they have had children. Every CT scan report so far has no...

Re: Melanoma surgery is Tuesday :(

Hi Mitch....my surgery turned out to be more invasive than previously thought. The surgeon had to take a "bite" out of my ear....huge chunk :( My 11 year old grand-daughter says that I look like an "old ally cat" who has been in a fight and lost part of his ear  Plastic sur...

Re: Melanoma surgery is Tuesday :(

Hi mitch....surgeon is not a plastic surgeon. He is an E.N.T. surgeon and is (the man) for head and facial surgery. I'm travelling out of town specifically to have him do the surgery....he is very highly recommended. He booked 2 units of time in the OR which tells me he doesn't do "rush" j...

Re: Melanoma surgery is Tuesday :(

Hi Mitch....Glad to hear that the ear surgery was successful. I'm having a similar procedure on Friday...just hope that my surgery turns out as well. My surgeon reassured me that plastic surgery is not necessary, however,I was considering pushing for plastic surgery when I read your initial post. Gi...

Re: Melanoma surgery is Tuesday :(

I'm sure my post is late but as a person who has had melanoma (and surgery for it) I just suggest you take everything off that the docs deem safe. I have seen people die of melanoma... It's such a game looking disease at times.... Believe me- it isn't. Judy..I live in Florida for 6 months of the ye...

Re: Melanoma surgery is Tuesday :(

Mitchell.......I am having a 2 cm "lesion" removed from my LEFT ear on Friday. Surgeon says that my ear will be "smaller" but no one will know except me (and him) :D I didn't opt for the plastic surgery (would have to pay out of pocket)......I have long hair and as long as there ...
