Re: Bleeding as a symptom

At first I saw an occasional streak of blood following a bowel movement. Being a former "rhoids" sufferer, it was easy to dismiss the symptoms. What drew my attention was a toiled full of bright red blood! That go my attention. My tumor was located in ascending colon, so I was very fortuna...

The Clincher

First was my age...49-1/2. Family History A toilet full of blood. Guess what got my attention? Fortunately, because of #1 and #2...the doctors didn't fool around and got me in for the colonoscopy. My 3 daughters all know that their grandma and dad have told them that the colonoscopy will be a 39th b...

Surgeon

The last time I saw my surgeon was to have my staples removed. He told me to follow up with my own doctor 4X the first year, 2X the second year, and annually after that. I did see another surgeon when I had my hernia repaired.

Best wishes,
Terry

Finding out!

I was slightly aware of a problem during the colonoscopy but I thought it was a dream. As I awakened to full consciousness I saw my wife in the room. I knew that it wasn't good. My doctor said it was a tumor. and it was maliginant based on his years of experience. I felt as if my world was crashing ...

Double Duty

Hi Wendy, I had both tests at the same time in '02. My reflux had been never been officially diagnosed until then. I've taken Aciphex since then. It has controlled the problem. The nice thing about getting both at once is it's a little deeper sleep and you won't remember a thing. As I was waiting fo...

site pain

Hi Helen,
My site pain turned out to be a double hernia that resulted in a strangled bowel. It's worth having it checked. Hope all is well,

Best wishes,
Terry

Welcome, Eric

Welcome to the fraternity. Memberships are far too easy to come by. The good news is that you will be communicating with people whose understanding and advice is almost as important as that of your medical team. Best wishes as you battle this beast. Keep on fighting!

Andrea

I shared many private emails with Andrea and I can say she never lost hope no matter how bleak it looked. Her love for her children and life kept her going longer than any doctor had ever expected. What a tough woman! We will miss her.

Constipation

Try eating a "Fiber One" Bar with a cup of coffee. If one doesn't work, try a second one. It should get things moving nicely....plus the bars do taste good.

"Your kidding" or "You're kidding"

This not a chit chat room. Quite often people post looking for answers to some very serious concerns about their health. I cannot offer advice to a person with Stage II, III, or IV cancer. But I can offer advice to a person who might be undiagnosed with symptoms or one that might be experiencing her...

Polyp Poll

Prior to my first colonoscopy I would have said anyone but me. I received an education on that day 8 years ago. I never complain about the test now...even while I'm doing the prep.

Stay healthy,
Terry
