Re: What happens after Chemo is Over?

Have never had mine removed --recurrence came too soon-- but my onc had said to wait at least a full year of clean scans before taking it out.

Re: EXPERIENCED CCers, PLEASE READ THIS

Have I told everyone here lately just how much I love you and appreciate this forum? Regardless of whether or not the CC board wants to make some of these suggested changes, I am impressed at the enthusiasm and willingness of people to jump in and help. When I read the Diane's suggestion to make a &...

Re: What are the options now - Recurrent cancer!!

sounds like it might be time for a second surgical opinion. Are you close enough to a major cancer center to try an appointment there?
Best wishes,

Re: Severe rash please help!!!

Magic Mouthwash is good, but sometimes you want something to relieve the discomfort at a particular spot in your mouth. Ask either your onc or your dentist about Rx for lidocaine oral gel which will numb an area so that you can eat more comfortably, or triamcinolone oral gel, which is a steroid. I w...

Re: What happens after Chemo is Over?

Tammy, When you finish chemo, it is easy to feel like you've been turned loose from someone who was watching closely over you, and that all of a sudden you're on your own. It doesn't have to be that way, but it make take some deliberate questioning by you to make sure everything is covered. Assuming...

Re: EXPERIENCED CCers, PLEASE READ THIS

Skypup, It really is a brilliant idea. I don't know that I am qualified to write anything on clinical trials, but I'll do what I can. I understand about burn-out, particularly this last month when my body feels like it has been under siege. I admire those who routinely answer the call to their heart...

Re: Acute renal failure - long story with a moral

Ron, First, congratulations on 15 years! I have to tell you that your story is inspiring, but also terrifying. I've never tended to think of all the various tests and scans as being dangerous, but this whole experience has changed my way of thinking. I also never gave that much thought to all the Av...

Re: O/T …. the softer YIN side ..FINAL update

CRGuy, I am sorry to hear of your father's passing. I wish I could attribute this story I remember reading. Someone who had lost a loved one wrote along the lines of, "I must not think that he has been taken from me -- although I feel the loss dreadfully. I can only deal with his passing if I r...

Re: Acute renal failure - long story with a moral

Creatinine down to 1.2 today, so Dr. P. is applying to start me back on the study drug next week. I feel like I escaped a near disaster caused by my own carelessness, or stupidity, if you want to be blunt. Assuming the sponsor lets me back on the study, Dr. P. plans to leave off the Avastin for the ...

Acute renal failure - long story with a moral

If seeing that diagnosis on your paperwork doesn't upset you, you're a stronger person than I am. The story: Early December, I was kicking right along. Been fighting the Big C for more than 7 1/2 years, but was feeling better than I had in a long time. The rash from the study drug seemed to have sub...

Patty,
I am so sorry for your loss. Reading the obituary, I'm betting his heart and spirit were as big as the great outdoors that he loved. Praying for comfort for you in the days ahead,

Re: Life and Death

Julie, I've always thought that the mark of a good writer was the ability to take what I was feeling and to put my thoughts and emotions down into words even before I was able to define those feelings to myself. I've sat here are read through your work and just cried. Exquisitely beautiful. You make...

Re: O/T RIP ZIGGYMONSTER 1/8/14

I am sorry for your loss. What's the old saying, "Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?" I guess it's true, but when the loss is so great, there are times it doesn't feel that way. I read a book this summer that I highly recommend for anyone who has that specia...
