Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Skypup, I so understand. There are now so many things that I either don't do, or don't do without help. I can only drive myself to appointments about 1/3 of the time. My husband has had to start doing almost all the grocery shopping for us, with my parents picking up emergency stuff as needed. My gr...

Re: newbie

scr1976, It's okay to be afraid of cancer; we all are. But please don't be afraid of asking a dumb question here! When you start this journey, you are in shock from the diagnosis; the patient is usually weak from being sick or from surgery; the caregiver is overwhelmed; and the doctors -- and old-ti...

Re: Scanxiety? Who's scanning in the next few weeks?

Diane, Sorry you're dealing with the anxiety so far in advance. I always have trouble praying for myself. What a good idea to go out and ask who else you could be praying for! While I was on the trial, I had a scan every 6 weeks. Monday (April 7) is my first scan since the one in December where the ...

Re: Another passing... My dear sweet husband

I am so sorry for your loss. As hard as it is to have cancer, it must be far worse to be the caregiver, the loved one who has to watch suffering, the one who must go on living after the terrible loss of the love of your life.
May God's peace and comfort surround you.

Re: Update on me

If you think clinical trials are in your future, I strongly advise looking now, not weeks down the road. This is government paperwork, so you can imagine how slowly things can move. I got almost 2 years without chemo from the Genentech PD-L1 trial I was on. Now, I think there are 4 companies with PD...

Re: My Friend, Traveler001

I can't think of anything to say. I was in the infusion room getting fluids when I read your post, and tears started streaming down my face. You'd think folks here would be used to these sudden deaths, but we're not. Each and every one is a shock, and is so painful. I will remember Traveler001 with ...

Re: Thanks and apologies

Idina Mendel from Frozen was also on Broadway in Wicked. The song For Good from Wicked about friendship is one of my "funeral" songs. Part of the lyrics (can't figure out how to copy a link while on the smart phone) is about apologies. And just to clear the air I ask forgiveness For the th...

Re: Thanks and apologies

Skypup, the only apology you owe to me is for not posting enough! I enjoy hearing from you and your posts lift my spirits. I hope nothing has happened to bring on your feeling a need to apologize. We are all on a journey through hell. Sometimes we manage it with grace, sometimes not. The last two da...

Re: Ned 1yr...now bright red blood in stool tonight..please

No one here keeps a running tab, but your calm and kindness in helping others apparently really was "paying it forward." We all do what we can, when we can. And sometimes, we're doing our best just to hang in there! Hope the bleeding issue was truly something insignificant and you can cont...

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Mrs.Ossie, Sudden menopause is hard to deal with for any woman; I can't imagine adding all those side effects to the trauma of having cancer and the grief you must feel over not having children. Cancer is a b-tch, and surviving is tough on all fronts. I wish I had words of wisdom to offer, but, toda...

Re: 24 years old 1st colonoscopy results so scared

I wish I could tell you that it's not cancer. I wish I could tell you that if it's cancer, it will likely be early stage. But I'm not a doctor or a pathologist; and only those individuals can give you the answers you are waiting for. My heart does go out to you. My diagnosis was a complete surprise,...

Re: sudden onset of pneumonia

Cabisbee, By any chance is your DH on Avastin with the FOLFOX? Over the years, I've had lots of Avastin - first with FOLFOX, then with XELIRI (irinotecan + Xeloda), and since August 2012, with a study drug as part of a phase I clinical trial. Over the last 4 years, I've had a number of episodes of p...

Re: (Good) News on anti PD-L1 MPDL3280A / Immunotherapy

Maia, Another question, please. on the MPDL3280A/Cobimetib study exclusion criteria it says: Prior treatment with CD137 agonists or immune checkpoint blockade therapies. It didn't see this the other day. I think that means I would be excluded because of prior treatment with MPDL3280A. What do you th...

Re: My insurance company is messing with my head

What I love is that several days after I am home from an 8-day hospital stay, I get a letter from my insurance company saying that I have been approved for a one-day stay. Then a few days later, I get another letter that they have approved another 3 days. Screw them. I put the letters straight into ...

Re: (Good) News on anti PD-L1 MPDL3280A / Immunotherapy

Maia, I can't find much on this new drug, cobimetinib. I wonder what the possible side effects could be. MPDL3280-A wasn't bad, but I wonder if the kidney issues will totally resolve or if they would keep me out of something new. The trial info does not say that you are excluded if you have had othe...
