Re: Stage 4 hope to share

Oh, I never saw this thread before. Very interesting! I really try to do my best with my boyfriend too, in terms of diet and supplements, etc. I agree that the most important thing is keeping the weight on and staying strong enough for chemo. But I also think my bf's healthy diet has helped him a lo...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

I totally agree with you Alex! In our case, the oncologist wanted to get the cancer "under control" before surgery could happen - he felt that the presence of lung nodules showed the cancer was quite active and wanted a systemic treatment first. All I can tell you is that Folfiri + Avasti...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

It makes sense to me to treat his liver mets. So what if it isn't "curative" by itself? With those gone he can attack the lung mets. Would they prefer to wait until the liver mets grow until they DO pose an immediate problem, and then say they are inoperable after all? Forgive me, I can't...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

I can tell you about my experience with my first appointments. The oncologist told me surgery wouldn't be possible but my liver surgeon told me he saw potential, his exact words were he would swing for the fences for me. He was very adamant in telling me that I'd be surprised at how many people cou...

Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

Hi everyone, I am planning our next move and thought I would ask you all for recommendations. My boyfriend Jesper is on his third infusion of FOLFOX + Avastin with a scan scheduled after the 4th. His oncologist says he expects a stable scan. I plan to send Jesper's scans to several high-volume, repu...

Re: RFA -Lung Tumour

You are under general anesthesia for the RFA procedures. I had multiple mets in both lungs. They will only do one lung at a time (as occasionally, a lung will collapse during the procedure and you need at least one lung working properly). I am not sure how many mets is too many...but because the RF...

Re: A Toast to 2020!

Juliej, What a beautiful post! You inspire so many of us and gave me so much hope when no one else really could. We are in much the same position, except for the fact that my Jesper has "innumerable" lung nodules, so I don't know what our best option is. But we are finally going to MSK aft...

Re: RFA -Lung Tumour

I am interested to know more about RFA on lung tumors too! Can you do RFA if you have many tumors? Or will they only do it if they can ablate all the tumors in one go?

Re: Zantac and Colon Cancer

I had to google Zantac as we don't have the same trade names in Denmark. So interesting!! My boyfriend was prescribed the Danish equivalent when he had heartburn/reflux from chemo. We never ended up getting it, as we had a naturopath who told us that it wasn't a good idea. Something about the princi...

Re: Liver and lung mets

Hi Alexandria, My husband had to postpone his chemo by 1 week on his 3rd infusion too — it was due to severe diarrhoea and high fever. On the bright side, he had a good CT scan after his 3rd infusion so I guess 1 week didn’t impact the results negatively, but quite the opposite. His platelets have ...

Re: Liver and lung mets

Hi Alex, Merry Christmas! So sorry to hear he had to spend it sick. But yes - a week’s delay of FOLFOX is nothing. Obviously if it happened every cycle it could end up having an effect, but occasionally is fine. My onc mentioned that the impacts of oxaliplatin on the cell replication cycle continue...

Re: Liver and lung mets

Sorry about Jesper getting sick, that sounds miserable! As far as neutropenia resulting in chemo delays, my husband has had this happening several times (3 I think?) over his 18 cycles of Folfiri/Avastin. Each time, the counts rebounded after a week break, and there was never any problems with canc...

Re: Liver and lung mets

Sorry to hear both you and Jesper have the flu but glad that it wasn't so severe for Jesper that he had to be hospitalized. I have a little experience in chemo delays while I was on FOLFOX over the summer so I thought I'd share. I had two one week delays. The first was for low counts. Before starti...

Re: Liver and lung mets

Hi all, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas or any other holiday you are celebrating. Jesper got the flu on the 23rd (I blame the Christmas shopping - so many people everywhere!) and had a fever of about 104 degrees for all of Christmas. Poor boy!! The only bright side was that his blood tests were...
