Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

So here's some crazy info: I already mentioned that I'm on the toilet a million times a day. I noticed today that when I sit on the toilet, I have a tendency to fold my arms a certain way, with the elbow of my left arm sitting on top of, and pushing into, my right hand! I swear, when I do this, the ...

Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

Bumping, sorry. Please see the pics in my previous reply?? I'd really like some feedback To me, it looks like darkening of your skin from Xeloda...here is a picture of the bottom of my foot after the 3rd cycle https://ibb.co/vsWjS70 Beckster, is that just discoloration? Because it looks like a pain...

Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

Well, I did some reading, and it said that hand-foot syndrome is brought on by the capillaries in the hands and feet leaking out some of the chemo medicine. The chemo medicine is so destructive to the skin, and evidently the capillaries in the hands and feet have a tendency to leak moreso than the c...

Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

Yeah, oxaliplatin is a bitch.

I'm surprised that the two weeks on, one week off for neo-adjuvant isn't standard! What was your neo-adjuvant protocol, Mike?

Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

I got Hand/Foot in Adjuvant Chemo. I didn't get it during Neo-Adjuvant and I think that's because the dose was lower and I only took Xeloda during the week. WIth Adjuvant, I took it 14 days in a row, so things built up, then declined on the week off. But eventually, it didn't go away on the rest we...

Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

Thanks, all! Skin darkening from Xeloda, huh? Would it be stupid to try to scrub it off? It looks like thick, dead skin! Zephyr, will henna get rid of what I have, too? I managed to get a way better pic of my hand - you can really see how the knuckles got thick dark skin! It looks like elephant ski...

Re: Worried about chemo port

Worry about the immediate battle, the port is making that easier. Sometimes the treatment for this awful disease is worse than the disease itself. Absolutely. You're right, I just don't know if the port is making it easier, because I have nothing to compare it to. But yes, it totally seems that the...

Ok, the "smear" on my wrist, and the weird skin on my knuckles, respectively:

Please ignore the little two-line scratch nearby my thumb - that's just a little injury.

Re: What can I do about diarrhea-like cramps?

Are you referring to tenesmus? I have a rectal tumor too, and my tenesmus began after my first chemo. It's horrific. As soon as there's the tiniest bit of poop in my rectum, my body wants to get it out. I'm on the toilet 20-30 times a day. And that's when I DON'T have tenesmus! When I do have tenesm...

Re: Worried about chemo port

Guys, is this normal one day after chemo? I had mild diarrhea and mild stomach upset this morning. Took two Imodium (and nothing else) and the diarrhea has been gone all day! I am so accustomed to going to the toilet like 20-30 times a day for the smallest bit of poop, that I'm actually feeling alar...
