Re: rectal pressure, blood on stool, cea

Thinking of you!

I get the fear to go to the hospital—but I do think most are being very safe. I am worried about my mom’s upcoming check up in December but when I weigh the risk of postponing it, I think I worry more about that. I would let your doctor’s thoughts guide you on this one.

Re: Polyps after CRC

My mom had her first colonoscopy since diagnosis/treatment this past June and they found 5! All benign but it put her on a yearly schedule. I was reminded that with her very first colonoscopy where her cancer was caught, her tumor was so low that they only completed like a few cm before finding it a...

Re: Newly Diagnosed Stage III colorectal cancer

Sorry you find yourself here. Very scary to digest at the beginning for sure—everyone here can remember that feeling (you can research my first posts to see documented evidence of my freaking out on behalf of my mom.) Once you get a plan and get fighting, you will feel a little less head spinning an...

Re: doc won’t give results over the phone

Sorry for the CEA stress! It sounds like they weren’t too concerned but better to ease your mind in a few weeks versus dwelling for 3 months. I hope it isn’t Covid or if it is that it’s mild and you get well soon!

Re: Low key freak out.

Can you push for a biopsy? And maybe if they aren’t super concerned to rush it that’s a good sign in and of itself, but I’m always a pushy self-advocate. :)

Re: 3 months left of life

It hurts my heart to read this update and I feel inadequate with words for what you are going through. I hope you can get a small bit of comfort knowing many people across the world including myself, though we’ve never met you, are touched by your story and are thinking of and praying for you and yo...

Re: Am I panicking for no reason? Slight rise in CEA levels

CEA is my worst enemy but my mom’s oncologist always reminds me that they are looking for a continual significant upward trend and not just one random rise before they think anything of it.

Re: Longer term lodgings in Rochester, MN

You could check out the Residence Inn Marriott—it’s attached to the hospital through the underground walkways and my mom stayed their during her radiation (though hers was short course so only 5 days vs 5 weeks). I’m not sure if they have different “extended stay” pricing but they have a fully furni...

Re: Still here still clear

That’s awesome Dave!!!

Guess what—my mom got great news on her most recent scans as well—everything looked clear and CEA dropped.

I am so thankful.

But even crazier, due to COVID, her surveillance was pushed back and rescheduled to June 17th so you guys were at Mayo on the same day!!!
