Re: Low key freak out.

Can you push for a biopsy? And maybe if they aren’t super concerned to rush it that’s a good sign in and of itself, but I’m always a pushy self-advocate. :)

Re: 3 months left of life

It hurts my heart to read this update and I feel inadequate with words for what you are going through. I hope you can get a small bit of comfort knowing many people across the world including myself, though we’ve never met you, are touched by your story and are thinking of and praying for you and yo...

Re: Am I panicking for no reason? Slight rise in CEA levels

CEA is my worst enemy but my mom’s oncologist always reminds me that they are looking for a continual significant upward trend and not just one random rise before they think anything of it.

Re: Longer term lodgings in Rochester, MN

You could check out the Residence Inn Marriott—it’s attached to the hospital through the underground walkways and my mom stayed their during her radiation (though hers was short course so only 5 days vs 5 weeks). I’m not sure if they have different “extended stay” pricing but they have a fully furni...

Re: Still here still clear

That’s awesome Dave!!!

Guess what—my mom got great news on her most recent scans as well—everything looked clear and CEA dropped.

I am so thankful.

But even crazier, due to COVID, her surveillance was pushed back and rescheduled to June 17th so you guys were at Mayo on the same day!!!

Re: One year anniversary and now delayed surveillance

Thank you for sharing Julie! I did not realize there were official guidelines on the subject. I guess in a weird way it makes me feel a little better that it’s coming from the top and they believe the benefit of delaying outweighs the risk.

Hope everyone is staying safe <3

Re: Chemo break due to covid-19 outbreak

Just want to share a similar situation in that my mom’s surveillance CT, CEA and colonoscopy are all being pushed back from April to June. It’s tough not knowing what June will bring (will it be pushed back again?) but right now the hospitals don’t think it is safe to risk it and feel like a slight ...

Re: One year anniversary and now delayed surveillance

Thank you Stu, I hope they will come up with a safe plan. NHMike, we are going to call and ask—that bloodwork was supposed to be up at Mayo as well same day as scan so now we are wondering if we should get it local “on time” (or if that’s even safe...) Unrelated NHMike but I was reading your signatu...

One year anniversary and now delayed surveillance

A year ago today my mom was wheeled away from me in a hospital stairway at Mayo where she underwent a 6 hour surgery to get NED. A celebratory day indeed that we’ve made it this far, but of course now with this pandemic, she got calls that her CEA / CT scan and colonoscopy have been postponed. (CT s...

Re: Me again, my fave topic: CEA

Fellow CEA obsesser here. I think it’s super positive that it was that high once and then dropped. So while it climbed, it has done this before with no rising trend and you could reasonably anticipate it will drop again and that’s just your “range.” I am obsessively losing it over my mom’s, which wa...
