Re: Irinotecan and hair loss and regrowth

Thanks for the input.
I believe she would be better off without the 5FU for a bit and allow some healing to occur.
From day 1 she has had more problems with the 5FU than any of the other chemos

Re: Irinotecan and hair loss and regrowth

After 22 rounds of Fofox + Avastin my partner has now done 3 rounds of Folfiri + Erbitux. On the Folfox her hair had noticeably thinned but as yet there is no appreciable change on the Folfiri. Her biggest problem right now is with the 5FU and mouth, throat and tongue ulcers. I see Grousemans wife i...

Re: Checklist for spouse upon my demise

Now that my partner is seeing good results from her 2nd line chemo ( Folfiri + Erbitux) there is less urgency in getting affairs sorted. She still owns her own house which is being prepared for sale .The proceeds will be split between her 2 adult children. After that her superannuation fund will hav...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

A day early but it will be 9 years tomorrow.
After the confusion of my colonoscopy of April 27th ( the Procedure Report referred to Lymphoma instead of Lipoma), I'm grateful to still be alive and well.

Re: Laporascopic or open surgery for colon cancer

I wasn't given the choice. It was open chest. It was only long after I'd had my surgery that I even discovered that laparoscopic surgery existed. When I questioned my surgeon on a follow up visit he advised that will not perform lap. surgery. In an earlier "life" he had been Director of Co...

Re: Fever with oxaliplatin

Not necessarily. My partner had two hospital admissions with the same symptoms, at about the 15th/16th cycle of Oxi. Our oncologist started a de-sensitizing program over the next 3 rounds and hasn't had a problem with the Oxi since. I have given the link another similar thread. Her biggest problem i...

Re: Oxaliplaton reaction

This is the desensitization protocol that I mentioned earlier. It worked for my partner.

Re: Oxaliplaton reaction

Sorry I didn't see that your hubby was Stage 4.
If it is any help my partner has now completed 22 rounds of Oxi.

Re: Oxaliplaton reaction

I would not give up on the Oxi just yet. I would speak to the oncologist beforehand and discuss the possibility of going with a De-Sensitization program. In my partner's case it ran over 3 rounds of chemo and she has had about 3 rounds since without any reaction. Basically they administer in small b...

Re: My NED Days appear over

Well I got the histology from my GP and I'm looking for a bum to kick. Or at least a gastroenteroligist who proofreads his Procedure Report. Or a typist who switches off spell-check. I had 2 lipomas . Not lymphomas. There will be a small celebration in the household this evening. I'm still NED. You ...

Re: My NED Days appear over

No news for me yet. I've stopped googling "lymphoma in the colon". Until I see the path results it's all wild speculation. Chrissie started her 27th cycle of chemo yesterday. We had an interesting meeting with our Oncologist today . Her CEA has come down a little and her LDH is completely ...

Re: My NED Days appear over

From what I have read treatment most likely will be resection and radiation. The prognosis is good.
The complication is that my partner has Stage IV mCRC ( unresectable) and I'm the "caregiver", which is almost obscene but them's the breaks.

My NED Days appear over

Well it was a good run. Almost 9 years. Yesterday I had a colonoscopy which wasn't very good. Apart from some lymph nodes there are 2 lymphomas in the colon. Not rare but not that common. I can't say that I have ever seen any posts with lymphomas in the colon on the forum. I've scheduled an appointm...

Re: Colonoscopy next week..canceled previous two

I have a colonoscopy next Wednesday.
Because I'm diabetic and have impaired kidney function ( Folfox will knock about 20% off kidney function anyway), it's old school Moviprep . It's easier on the kidneys. As long as it is refrigerated I don't have a problem.
