Re: O/T...Post Your Pics Here

I'm loving that teacup, mob, but more so the flower in it. What is that? ............ BS As peanut noted it is a hibiscus. Definitely not native to Canada!! I loved seeing them when we went on vacations to Jamaica. They grow to be chest height bushes there. Mine won't. I'll have to bring it inside ...

Re: The things people say to cancer patients

I too have developed a very low tolerance levels for assholes but mostly keep it to myself. Other than my clients and family I have told very few people about my cancer. And other than my oncologist, no one knows what stage I was diagnosed at not even family and husband. (That's a completely differe...

Re: O/T...Post Your Pics Here

http://i63.tinypic.com/wugx2c.jpg I saw the tea cup pot and had a WTF moment (inspired by Risky Business) a month ago. I blew $25 on a ceramic pot. That's just not like me. Seriously I haven't bought anything that wasn't essential since last October. I need a belt to hold my all pants up, but I hav...

Re: Low WBC after 2 treatments of FOLFIRINOX

I don't believe there really is anything diet wise that will help with neutrophils. I was given advice from members here on supplements that might work, but I found it too confusing trying to match possible interactions with chemo and other drugs I was on. In the end I was prescribed a generic versi...

Re: Anyone with a Similar Experience?

My first 2 treatments with Folfox were at 100% oxaliplatin. 3rd and 4th were at 90% due to low neutrophils and platelets. 5th to 12th were at 75%, again, due to low neutrophils and platelets. My oncologist debated about dropping the oxali all together prior to the 8th treatment because it is the flo...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I think that he should have said NED. He also said that he learned a lot from me. The CEA number this morning was 2.8. Normal is equal to or below 3.8. It was 2.8 when I was diagnosed but I was running a lot back then. It appears that the CEA is more of an indicator of my activity level than it is ...

Don't pharmacies in the US take back unused prescription drugs? I did it with meds prescribed before my diagnosis.

Re: Tips for a Folfox newbie – starting Tuesday

My oncologist prescribed Dexamethasone (steroid) and Ondansetron both in pills to be taken minimum 1 hour prior to chemo. The 1 hour prior was difficult on the days when I had blood tests scheduled the same day as infusion as for the first 7 infusions I was never sure if I would get the go ahead due...

Re: Totally O/T

Here's my analogy. When I am asked to make something for dinner, dessert, breakfast, etc that I haven't made before my first action is to go to The Joy of Cooking. (my copy is from 1975, I don't even know if it is still published.) It gives me all the information that I need to know for preparation,...

Sorry to hear all your difficulties post reversal. If your body is not averse to them bananas and rice would be my starting point for solid foods. Work proteins in slowly once your bm's are more solid. I would avoid anything cooked in oil ie. hash browns until you have more control too. It is such a...

I' m given the same portable bottle too. First cycle it hadn't quite emptied by disconnect time but all the subsequent ones were done by 42 hours. The volunteers at the cancer centre sewed or crotcheted pouches that hang around your neck to hold the bottle. I'm only 5'2" and they gave me one th...

I was prescribed hydromorphone. Took 1 pill and decided that it wasn't for me. regular Tylenol was good enough and I only took that at bedtime as it helped me sleep.

I'm glad that you had a good start and hope all future infusions are uneventful.
Did you come home with a pump?
