Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

I just met with Dr Kingham at MSK and they are recommending resection with HAI pump installation and then six months of Folfiri. They also mentioned a clinical trial that I might qualify for run by Dr Kemeny. This is an aggressive approach because I am young and healthy. They said they didn’t start ...

Re: Folic acid / folate and 5FU dangers, L-glutamine and asian mushrooms - some questions

Our usage is somewhat different, 24x7 oral 5FU, intensified by other milder drugs and natural molecules, rather than 5FU cyclical with iri- or oxi-. We don't use as much glutamine as oncologists recommend for Folfiri patients do. It isn't needed in such great quantitities - covered also by IV vitam...

Re: Folic acid / folate and 5FU dangers, L-glutamine and asian mushrooms - some questions

I might be starting Folfiri soon and would like to know some of this as well. Good to know about folic acid, and also about glutamine, which I had been taking for neuropathy. I took Turkey Tail mushroom extract as well, and I have no idea if it helped me or not, but I didn’t get sick during treatmen...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

Hey teacher, I saw my original liver surgeon today and learned that my spot is indeed cancerous. She recommends 2 months of Folfiri and then rescanning, with potential for surgery after. She said it can be taken out any time, but chemo will kill any circulating cancer cells. I’m getting a second opi...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

Hey teacher, I met with the surgeon today, although my appointment left much to be desired for several reasons and I will be getting a second opinion at MSK. Just want to mention that she said there are different schools of thought on chemo in this situation, and she recommends a short chemo regime...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

I don’t know yet if my 1cm spot is cancer, although it likely is. In any case, my onc does not recommend additional chemo. I meet with the surgeon tomorrow to determine whether I need a biopsy and whether I am an RFA candidate. We are in the exact same boat and hopefully we can both get to NED soon!

Re: Liver spot - abnormal PET

I keep feeling little twinges in the general area of my liver, and I’m not sure if they’re real or if I’m just imagining things! I’m kind of on pins and needles until I can meet with my oncologist and surgeon on Monday. Also I think I will get a second opinion at MSK.

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I haven’t met with my doctor yet, he is out of the country. I see both him and the liver surgeon on Monday. After the CT scan he said that it was concerning because the spot wasn’t there a year ago. He also said it could be removed surgically if needed. He also said at the time it could be benign be...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I am in your exact same shoes. Mine is probably cancer and I'll have to have it surgically removed. I know it feels like you can't catch a break, but you don't know for sure if it's cancer yet, and it's better to know now than later. It's frustrating, right, since we just ended treatment recently. G...

I showered with my wound uncovered. It helped clean the area and actually felt pretty good.

Liver spot - abnormal PET

I found out this morning that my liver spot lit up on the PET scan, so I’m scheduled to meet with a surgeon specializing in surgical oncology next Friday. I’m assuming the next thing is a biopsy to confirm. This is disappointing and feels never ending, but I’m just going to research my options and d...

Re: Stage 4 Colon Cancer

This is good to read because I am facing a possible liver resection. I have a 1 cm liver spot that came back abnormal on my PET scan. Looking for encouraging stories anywhere I can!

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Anyone have a rough idea as to how long it took for the hole to close up? If I recall correctly, it took me about four weeks for the hole to close up completely. Now I have a dent in abomen that looks a little ridiculous, but I think that's due to where the ileostomy was located. For those that acq...
